I had a van try and chase me... twice
I was in my daily driver 2000 Toyota Camry
I was on my way home from a friends house with my buddy and gf when i passed a van on the side of the road. 1130pm trying to get home I was goin 20 over in a 35 on this back road so maybe thats what pissed him off? I obviously gave this guy space while passing so i was hanging over in the left lane but i continue on and come up to a stop sign. I notice these lights gaining on me really fast so i figure its a cop or something. I quickly get spooked and take a left so i could get a better eye on the vehicle. I see that its a 2007 ish silver chevy uplander so i lay into the throttle a bit more to gain some distance. At this poin he was still gaining so i just floor it and come up on another side street that im very familiar with. Im flying down this road at probably 70mph (fast for the road ibwas on) and lose him. I just let it go because who cares right? This guy could have a gun for all i know so i never stick around, just not worth my life or some serious injurys. Literally the next day it was around the same time i ended up crossing paths with this guy again. Different road but same area (i live close by). I pull out behind him and he immediatly started slowing down. I was in shock, i had no idea why he was putting forth so much effort to chase me down. As i came up behind him, he hits the brakes and starts hogging the road. He then gets back into his lane, turns onto a side street and immediatly puts his car into reverse as i pass him. I lay into the throttle again and sure enough hes flying up on me and gaining speed. I floor my car and kept the gap big enough for me to lose him after turning onto a side street. Whats this guys deal? Is he trying to kill me? You never know what people are going to do these days. Last edited by natedog7700; 02-18-2018 at 11:40 AM.. |

And this is how road rage happens. For some reason ppl like this a-hole think it’s his duty to take it upon himself to teach others a lesson.
Just drive safely and call 911 if someone does this to you. Or drive to a Police station. Do not engage or get into a back and forth. It’s just not worth it. |

One night I was driving down this dark, unlit road. I exit a curve and this guy jumps out of the woods and directly in front of my car, trying to flag me down. He looked angry, not hurt or bloody or anything. I sped up and moved over to get the hell out of there because I didn’t want to die. He lunged for the car as I went by. I ran a red light about a mile down the road just to make sure this guy didn’t actually have a car and try to chase me down. Kinda scared the crap out of me.
Just stay away and report it to police. Lots of crazies out there. And people used to hitchhike, stop to help broken down cars etc maybe 50 years ago. You cannot do that today. |

About 4 years ago I was going down a main road at 35mph that is usually 45 but there was construction and spped limit was reduced. Some guy in a 90s Dodge truck got on my tail real quick but I just ignored it. He was being aggressive but there was a cop ahead so I was not going to go faster than 35. I pull into Mcdonalds to get a drink since I was just at the junkyard and he pulled in with me and got out of his truck in the drive thru lane looking like he was ready to beat me. I get out and pull out my 3' breaker bar and he just backs down gets in his truck and squeals off in a parking lot while flipping me off. At that time I was 19 so I did not gave a CCW so a big blunt object had to do. Moral of the story is just have a bigger stick ready to go just in case.

Well on my end I would just go my merry way....but if the jackass continues to follow, harass and/or pose a threat at least I could defend myself before the cops come. I would most likely just speed off into the sunset leaving who ever in the dust!

Never be the aggressor. You never know what other people are capable of. It's not worth getting shot at by some lunatic over some road rage.
In my town a guy was harassing a woman, who he claimed didn't use her turn signal. He was tail gating and yelling threatening stuff from his truck. He pulled in front of her and cut her off, then stopped and blocked her. He got out and started running towards her car while yelling something. She freaked out and pushed the gas to squeeze by his car and get out of the situation. She tore his driver door off and hit the guy with her car. She didn't run him over, but knocked him down. Her dash cam captured everything. The police dept I was interning with at the time said she was justified since she felt threatened and acted in self defense.

Nobody wins this way, winning is not playing in the first place. A weapon would be most comforting, but the trick is not letting it overcome the judgment. This is what that stupid lighted button on my roof is for.....(and that long pedal on the right).

I'm not saying I play vigilante and exact justice. If in a car with escape that's obviously first. Unless you are sitting right next to me at the ready police is there to scrape me up after the fact, I'm rewponsible for protecting myself in worst case scenario.
