Performance cars without a markup?

I'm currently "due" for a new vehicle and while I knew that the market conditions were horrible, I didn't realize they were this bad. Literally every vehicle I have looked at has AT LEAST a 10k dealer markup, in some cases upwards of 35k.

With no end to this madness in sight, I have to ask - has anyone found or no of any good performance vehicles that can actually be obtained for MSRP or god forbid, below that?

Not sure how you define performance but I have heard of some dealerships charging sticker price for the new 86/brz and some of the V8 American cars.

I doubt you’ll find anything German at sticker price though.

I can recommend you to my dealer that will sell you at msrp at least (you are in NJ right)

Never ceases to amaze me how conservative north americans are, go get the Alfa, goes like stink, looks like sex, sells below MRSP. wtf else you need?

Your best bet will be the Giulia Quadrifoglio, but I have heard plenty stories of them still going for MSRP or $10-20k above MSRP. You have to do a nationwide search. I've heard Alfa of Strongsville OH, Alfa of Omaha, or Alfa Van Nuys give better deals.

This car, even in base 4 cyl form, is a total joy to drive. The quickest steering ratio of any sedan in the world, proper road feedback through the steering, incredibly balanced chassis, decent ride quality, and a uniquely Italian design to die for. I'm sure the Quadrifoglio takes it all up a notch, as it was basically designed by ex-Ferrari engineers! Do yourself a favor and at least test drive one.

People are sheep, they want to feel validated in their purchase by friends/neighbors and stay within their comfort zone. So everybody hops on over to a BMW Audi Lexus etc showroom mindlessly without any thought. Brand loyalty and peer pressure are a real thing.

And of course, Alfa not running a single marketing campaign for like 5 years now is also a factor.

You can get a 392 Wrangler ordered with about a 10% discount but it’s going to take a while to get it.

If you order a car you can get it at MSRP. It'll just take.... 6+ months (at best) for delivery.

I just ordered my M3 at MSRP and current estimates for me are 6-8 months barring unforeseen delays.

Market Adjustments are dealer-specific. In the case of the dealer group where I work, it is strictly against their policy to charge anything over MSRP. I recently delivered a new M5CS at sticker to a customer who ordered the car nearly a year ago. Every M3 and M4 has been at MSRP.

The hard part is simply getting an M3. I've had orders waiting for production spots for so long I'm embarrassed to say. I sent one customer to another dealer where I knew they had an unsold allocation after he'd waiting patiently to get an M3 stick from me for many months. I arranged his order through them at MSRP, also.

But then we hate dealers here, don't we?

Personally, I think it comes to dealership networks. I have multiple options, and very convenient options, for the big brands, BMW, Mercedes and Lexus, but not with Alfa. Nearest alfa dealership is much further away and not nearly as many choices if I don't like that specific dealership. It would be a big pain any time service is due.

I am not sure what the Nationwide footprint is, but I would be concerned about moving and being an hour away from an Alfa dealer. This is before reliability comes into question.

I do love the looks of Alfa and would really really like a 4C, but it just seems like it could be a pain to own.

When you're figuring cost of ownership, don't forget the depreciation difference between Alfa and BMW. Not entirely offset by the greater discount.

Not all of them, and clearly would not hate yours.

Good story about another one. My best buddy lives in a gated community above Las Vegas. 2 of his immediate neighbors were 2 of the biggest car dealers in Vegas (one still there, one has moved on to a bigger mansion recently). One of the guys has a son who wanted to get into the business at around age 20. His father told him great - but you can't do it here. Everyone will know you're my son and will treat you accordingly. Go to any other dealership, and do every single job possible - sales, finance, management, etc. Learn the entire business - without the burden of your father being the owner/boss. When you've done that, THEN you can come to work for me. He followed dad's advice and now runs the empire and dad is semi-retired. Mad respect for both.
