To make room in my garage for my incoming X1, I had to say goodbye to a freind today. A buddy of mine followed me up to Roseville, and I sold my GTI to Carmax. It was a great car, but I couldn't justify having both it and the Bimmer and I got way more for it from them than I would have trading it. Tschüss!

I'm 100% sure you wouldnt stay on the unemployed market for long; banks over here are constantly rotating their personnel; Right now is the retirement period of the baby boomers; so TONS of opportunities for our generation. I dont know your skills in banking, but the advantage here in Canada is that there arent as many different banks as in the US; just about 10 majors institutions with thousands of branches all around the country with a pretty solid economy so far (knock on wood). Everything is regulated by a government based agency.

I'm into risk assessment through the main mortgage insurance provider in Canada. We have over 70% of the mortgage insurance market right now.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't serious; but if things go south in Cyprus (no pun intended), and you seriously consider to move, drop me a line i'll try to hook you up the best I can. My Girlfriend also work for the main financial institution in Quebec and eastern Ontario; so with all that network, I got a contact or two

Besides, Canada's welcoming immigrant with arms open; The1 can concur. They got some solid programs too.

Two things.
I wonder if you could use those water additives that people use to flavor the water to get those color drops. At least you can drink it afterwards.

Is that snow with "The Cold One"? with your intro I thought that having the snow crystals at the base shine would add to your photo. I like how it looks frozen and fades to white toward the bottom.

In the first one, the drops were actually food colour; I wanted really bright colors. I wouldnt drink that after; at the risk of having a rainbow smile ahah. the additive you are talking about is a very light color and would need lots of it to give the intensity of the colors I was looking for. At $5 a bottle; I decided to go the artificial way for much cheaper. But you have to be quick on the shutter; those streaks only last a couple seconds.

On the second one, the glass was actually frozen; The beer was slushy; very close to freezing point. I agree; snow would have been a killer addition. But this one was shot in my basement (no pun intended as per the previous discussion), and snow wouldnt have stayed frozen for very long.

Maybe if I shot it outside; right in the now bank; lets see how the sun behaves tomorrow. It was shinning pretty hard for most of the day today; but I was stuck behind a desk anyway.

For this one, I used a nylon sheet that can be shapped to almost look like the real thing. And if you ask if it was snow of not tells me it does a pretty good job :P

thanks Jean, it was between a joke and serious. we (me and the girlfriend) talked about moving if things go wrong. i'm in the IBC (international business centre) and we will take the big hit because we will lose most of our customers.
my girlfriend is an auditor in a firm that deals exclusively with offshore companies. So we are basically both in trouble. she is finishing her qualification (ACCA) in June and we will see by then.

we only live once and although its kinda scary, i wouldnt mind moving somewhere else..

So, apparently I found were all the rejected paint goes from Home Depot.

I really wish I had a sunnier day to really reflect the colors of this place. It was quite an amazing site as I was driving by in my travels and just needed to stop to take a few pics. The town is Yauco...and is not far from Ponce, on the south end of Puerto Rico.

Great shot, Nate. Berlin or Nurnberg? (Only two cities in Germany I know that have towers like that.)

Joey, I thought Nova Scotia took all the reject paint. Same type of paint scheme up there. Looks like the Puerto Ricans deal with brush fires on the hills, too. That would have made a good Gigapixel shot.

Wow...didn't even notice the tower in that last shot...

Many wild fires down there...all over the place. They were telling us that they were nothing to be worried about, and they don't get way out of control like they do in SoCal.

Even with several inches of snow covering the goodies, the bluejays find a way to feast. Just dig a tunnel down to the good stuff.

Just to add to things, You would have to deal with the penny if you come here . and likely not the nickel in the near future.

Our economy is one of the most stable right now, but it is still dropping slightly. But that also means our real estate is taking a slight dip, so if you're looking for a new home, potentially now is a good time

I hope everything works out for you guys however, but if you end up in Canada, you know there's at least 2 people here who will try to help you get accustomed to everything

I hope things look better this morning. Depending on which bank you're at, it could be good or BAD. Good luck.

The average Cypriot saver with under 100k EUR will be fine. The Russians and wealthier Cypriots are going to take a huge hit if they haven't spread their wealth around.
