I did not expect this thread to take off so well!

Next Friday we're gonna have a crew come out and redo the sprinkler valve/actuators. They haven't worked properly in over a year. I also went and bought a Rachio3 sprinkler controller.

I'll post some pics when I get some time. Glad to see everyone's yards greening up!

Rachio 3 is A great unit. If you can find their leak detection valve get one.

Anyone else have large areas under trees with mulch? I'm trying to determine the best way to control leaves with the new house. I have two, what I've always called, pine isles that surround two large oak trees. It's a defined area without grass and currently has pine straw and the like. Problem is the sheer number of leaves these trees drop make maintenance of these isles impossible and ultimately just a location to blow leaves into.

I'd like to mulch the areas and have it looking nice, but not sure what to do with all the leaves. Is there an alternative? Possibly even a different type of mulch that can withstand a leaf blower to get the leaves out for collection.

Use double-hammered hardwood mulch, and it's much easier to blow the leaves off the top of the mulch. Pine straw tends to lift/blow with the leaves.

You will get a bit of loss of much each time you blow, but it's pretty small overall.

My Orange tree I planted last Spring but was decimated by a hail storm is absolutely thriving this year! I have pampered her well. Brought her indoors throughout the Freezes we've experienced. It is bursting with blooms! It's inside at the moment because it's been windy. Has the entire Kitchen and Family Room smelling like Jasmine!

Just quarantining and chillin. We've been getting just a little bit of rain every few days for the last few weeks, so everything is nice and fresh. Grass is starting to grow faster so I'll have to start cutting it every week now. Neighbors are loving the avocados.

I also gave the dogs a bath and a comb and filled up our bird nest basket. They have been taking it!

I already have fruit on my peach. Wasn't expecting anything at all, we didn't seem to have enough cold hours over the winter

Grass after 6 days

Put a irrigation system in our lawn, beds, and pots today. Going to check to see if any of my suppliers have a nice urn fountain in stock this week.

I spent some time on lawn this weekend. Rolled, aerated and laid down pre-emergent. I need to see a new area. I am thinking I should do it in the next couple weeks. Thoughts? I'm in SE Michigan.

just threw down my pre emergent today too just cause of this crazy weather were getting. i'm south of you here in OH. i usually dethatch and aerate before throwing down the pre emergent but with all this rain the yard is pretty soggy so pulling plugs up would just make my yard a big mud pen. hold off on any seeding since you already threw down your pre emergent. do it in the fall

also all the shrubs and hydrangeas i winterized i went ahead and pulled the mulch off them as they are already budding. fertilized all the flower beds as well as pruned pretty much all the shrubs. gonna wait for the weather to get better before buying mulch

My grass is already long and greener than anyone's on my block! Bermuda. I am certain it is because of that Milorganite.
