Well, I can say that I rode on motorcycle with Gene Romero. We were in the same graduating class of '65 and he worked at the local motorcycle shop where I bought my first "motorcycle," a Honda 50. He gave me a ride from school to the motorcycle shop so I could pick up my new ride. Gene was a really nice fellow:

Starting riding dirt bikes in high school until I was seriously getting looked at by D1 and MLB scouts so I stopped.

Fast forward to 2009, bought my first bike, 2005 Honda CBR1000RR FireBlade. It was my daily driver in Scottsdale, AZ.

Sold it before moving back home to Cincinnati, OH a few years later.

In 2013 bought a 2007 Yamaha R1 from this guy who was a little cracked out and got it for a steal. Rode it for a few months. Never really idled right. Had to put in injector cleaner every so often to keep the RPM's steady. This bike wasn't my first choice. Sold it and made some good money.

Was browsing the local craigslist ads and found a local listing for a 2009 Honda CBR1000RR that was very clean..minus the extended swing arm and the dumb ass LED lights all over the bike. Drove to the guys house, which was about 30mins from me and looked it over and I was interested. We talked price, got it for a great price too as his wife wasn't happy with him having the bike and she wanted a side by side like what he had so he needed a quick sale.

Loved the bike. Fixed the extended swingarm back to stock, ripped out all of the LED wiring. Put on brand new tires. Had a full Two Brothers exhaust with power commander. Sounded amazing. Drove it for rest of the summer and sold it right before fall started for 2.5 times what I paid for it. Haven't had a bike since but I do miss riding one.

Thanks, yeah Massimo sure knew what he was doing. Sadly its a trailer queen now because its damned impossible to get parts. Upper chain slider (a freaking wear item) is NLA and had to be custom 3d printed. Still waiting on a rear caliper bolt, been a month. Reminds me, gotta order the new brake disks for the Guzzi and they might get here before the old ones wear out. That is the problem with Italian bikes, you need 3 or 4 of them so you have something to ride while waiting on parts for the others (kidding of course).

My buddy still tracks his! But he is also retired and has plenty of time to find bike breakers in Europe who still have spares floating around.

Started riding about eight months ago when I bought my first bike, a 2020 Yamaha R3. Put about 6000 miles on it so far, been casually looking for something different but just don't have much time to devote to motorcycle shopping. So far it is the only bike I have ridden. I did pick up a few 74 Honda CB750s a couple months ago and am finally getting close to bringing the first one back to life.

The Kawasaki triple, by the way, had loads of acceleration, but virtually nothing else.
The 350 S2 you could lean into the corners more than the 500 which had wider crank case cover width. I survived a three times tank slapper on the 350 in the rain managing to hold on flicking the bars in the direction of the slides

Then there was the 750, which I figured was just scary!

I tried one of those, the dealer must have been mad to let me try it at the time. I would actually have been happy with a 250 triple with the front disc brake such was the performance from it. If used a lot then refuelling was the norm every two days with these lol

I bought a classic Vespa PX a couple of months ago. More of a project just to give me something to tinker with.
I had a PX 125 that I tuned with a 180cc kit, big carb & exhaust, lightened flywheel & a few other bits & bobs. Am going to do something similar with this Pics of my Vespa from 1987 & the current one below.
Have removed all the chrome & am sorting the bodywork as there’s some surface rust here & there.

Due to its acceleration and smooth and vibration-free power delivery, the Kawasaki 500 was a true revelation when it was introduced. Costing only $999, it was quite the bargain, too. At the speeds it could so easily attain, its practically non-existent brakes and rubber-band frame made for a challenging combination when pushed on back roads with slow-speed turns. In my first couple of months with the bike, I had the brake lever pulled back to the grip on more than one occasion while still traveling at a few tens of miles per hour.

Ive had my share of street bikes but it's been 10 years since owning 1. There is no way I would ride on the streets again. Way to many fucking assholes on their phones these days. For all you still doing it, be very careful. No one gives a shit about anything anymore. Now with all these Tesla and EV's with a 20" screen , it will just get more dangerous

Im trying to buy a dual sport but man been on waiting lists forever.

Ignore him – there is absolutely no reason to take it down – it's not only crotch rockets that qualify. Believe me, I've owned both.

For example, this was my first motorized two-wheeler, except mine was all-red. A former bread van, it took me and various friends all over San Francisco back in the 60s. No license required!
