Crazy Night S5 & M5

why are all the nice cars out on the palisades after 2 am lol. going pass a gas station on palisades i saw a m5 getting out. so i slowed down and after messin around he got the idea i wanted to run; young guy too and im not sure if the p500 would matter or not compared to my stock car.

so 4th gear at 2k rpm just like a dyno, dsc/dtc off, ds mode we floor it. surprisngly i got the jump but after 5-10 mph he is off like a rocket. we did a few more runs and same result. so he gets off at exit 5s. i keep driving and up ahead i see at first a 335i sedan.

i get closer and voila a S5 . from a distance it soo looks like a 335i sedan until you see the quad tips. this was a young guy too. so again we got down to 4th gear, 2k rpm, etc and gunned it and once again i got the jump. but the s5 i got lead from 20-30mph and he was out. once we slowed down i cut him off to get on my exit and damn those leds are sexy and the interior from the outside looks very lit with all those buttons. s5 ain't lookin that bad imo but 335i all the way.

just wanted to share. gnite guys.

I can't tell either lol. I think the S5 got the better of him considering he used the word "but," I'm not really sure though. Would've thought the 335i would be faster though.

The S5 is quicker but the difference to 100mph would only amount to possible 3 lengths at most, after this though the S5 would be gone.

P.S. This of course is against a stock 335i.

.
it's a pretty high rent area, so it's not suprising to see people driving those cars around there at any time of the day or night.

i keep seeing more and more nice cars on the palisades but damn the s5 is so distinctive like the r8 on the road. the leds really make it stand out and overall body from afar really does look like a 335i lol.

to make the s5 more clear, i had the jump, and for about 10-15mph he was gainging to lets say 95-100 and then i was off to 110 and slowed down

Yeah, the S5 is a sexy beast. I'm trying to convince my mom to trade her CLK55 vert in for one. She wasn't half-bad driving stick either. Her first car was apparently an RX-7 (didn't know that until a few days ago lol I was surprised) with a stick.

I raced a CLK 55 AMG vert a few months ago when I had exhaust only.....not that slow...

We're thinking about trading the '07 SL 550 for the R8.

lol, I'm trying to get my dad to trade in his 6er for the R8. Unfortunately (in my eyes at least) he's really more interested in an AMV8 or DB9 Volante. Well, not so much the DB9 anymore...that thing sucked. We borrowed it for a weekend and our minds were made up.

A bit surprised I'm the first one to ask this.... but why in the world would you start a race from a roll at 2k RPMs?

It sounds like the other cars may have done this as well, but that's not totally clear to me? Either way, you have different gear ratios than them, so why not just downshift to lowest possible gear??

WTF? Do you even know how to drive? You must be a new driver; maybe 16-17?

lol. Usually in a race I think the racers try to specify the gear both of them should be in. It's not always the case, but in a lot of rolling street races (and a lot of M5board vids), there's a lot of 2nd gear 30-45mph rolling starts.

lol sorry that came out wrong. when i first saw the s5 i pulled up next to him to see if he wanted to run. at first he didn't do anything so i sped up and slowed down to give him the idea. then he slowed down and i slowed down with him. first i honked off and then we did again in which he slowed down i followed and he honked off. after that i had to get exit.
