So this explains why the LCI F30 probably will not be getting LEDs. The lighting budget all goes this stuff

Very interesting stuff.

And yet, the F3x/8x are still rocking good 'ol incandescent blinkers.

Orange halo's are the best. These new bright whites are kinda bland, everone does them.

People are willing to pay for it. And those that don't get it have a less expensive car. I don't really see the issue. BMW has always been about choice. You have to pay to get what you want.
Theres no option for LED tailights on the F30, for example, where other brands have it as standard on pretty much every car.

I know that they will come on the LCI, but they have been doing this play for what? 3 generations? Freaking lame to be honest.

I agree. I much prefer the old yellow-ish halos to those new LED ones, they blend with the main bean and you cant see the format or detail of the LED itself.

I like. Because lasers.

And yes, I agree with the above comments. It was a choice to not get HID's and what a poor choice I made indeed! I don't blame BMW for it though

The new S Class does this and it also switches all tail lights to 80% brightness at night.
Will definitely take a look into this. Did not know that very interesting.

I wonder from which upcoming car are those tail lights. I think they are from the new X7 or the 8/9 series which is about to debut as a concept.

Even better: A fully loaded F8x M3/M4 tips the scales at over $90,000 and doesn't have LED taillights.
What are you even saying? You would put $25k in options and not $1,900 for LED? I guess, but realistically who would?

All it takes is a small amount over the $62/$64k base to get them. No one will possibly add every option including carbon brakes and not have $2k left over in the budget.

And you can order it with "Full LED" lighting but you just get the headlights...

As much as I'm VERY tired of hearing everyone complain about this in every thread, I'm also shocked BMW still releases halogen-lit tail-lamps.

It's called flexibility in terms of providing more to choose from.
