Booker announces Presidential bid today.

Again - not surprising, but now official.

Despite his I-am-Spartacus gaffe, I still like him as a candidate better than most.

You think Warren has a better shot at winning than Booker?

ETA -- To clarify, I'm using "like" in the betting context above, not as an example of personal affinity.

Bookerís past as mayor of Newark will haunt him in the primaries. During his tenure gang violence was rampant in the city. Car jacking was at an all time high. He and Christie destroyed the public school system through privatization. Not that it was good to begin with but the cities magnate schools were among the top fifty in NJ. By the time Booker left for the senate they had slipped to the bottom fifty. Text book case of ambition exceeding the record.

That could certainly be a problem for him. Time will tell.

This election will be something akin to the 92 Olympics. The Dream Team aka Trump vs a bunch of players that don't stand a chance in hell.

The media and Democrats laughed at 17 Republicans back in 16. Reports are saying up to 30 Democrats will enter.
Can you see Booker energizing people? I can't. He's boring.
Harris, maybe, but she won't win the presidency. Team blue better find a total package or they're going to get buried.

...if Hillary enters, it's over.
She would literally suck the life out of any dems chance. She's selfish enough to do it too. She probably still has her eyes on that china and those lamps in the White House she got caught stealing.

That could absolutely be a problem, as I feel that decision by the RNC is what most led to President Trump - all the sane candidates siphoned votes from one another.

Let's see how many of these Presidential hopefuls actually make it to the DNC debate stage.

I'll still bet on my hunch that Obama has O'Rourke tucked tightly beneath his wings and is grooming him. Look for Bachmann Turner Overdrive to jump in about 6 months from now.

Obama is no dummy. He saw the shrieking for O'Rourke and he's saddling up on that.

The local LA news had a BIG Announcement this past week, regarding Mayor Garcetti.

He promptly walked out on stage and said he was NOT running They were so disappointed they set a stage for him to bow out.

Hmm... Let's see some of the things Kamala Harris has said:

1) "Joe Arpaio was convicted because he committed a crime," Harris tweeted in reference to the notorious ex-Arizona sheriff. "He should not be pardoned."

Setting aside whether or not Arpaio deserves a second chance, the statement from Harris is stunning in its ignorance. Obviously the convicted committed a crime! That's the whole point of the pardon. It doesn't absolve guilt or overturn a conviction. It simply lessens the punishment.

2) During the Kavanaugh hearings, Kamala Harris asks if Kavanaugh discussed Mueller with anyone at the law firm of Trump's personal lawyer.

Kavanaugh: "I would like to know the person you're thinking of."
Harris: "I think you're thinking of someone and you don't want to tell us." (CSPAN)

Like a bad prosecutor trying to prejudice a jury, she even cited Kavanaugh's initial hesitation to answer as further evidence of her assertion. But it turned out she was just plain bluffing ó and lying. She had no evidence of any such conversation. Kavanaugh subsequently had a chance to inspect the roster of the law firm in question. The moment he unequivocally denied her charge, she folded her bluff.

3) Kamala Harris likened immigration enforcement agency ICE to the Ku Klux Klan at a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing to confirm President Trump's nominee to run Immigration and Customs Enforcement. After a brief history lesson on the tactics of the Klan, Harris grilled the acting director of ICE on his ability to notice the "perception" of the agency he is charged to run.

4) When asked about other Presidential nominees, Kamala Harris stated ďIt would be a real disservice to the country for Democrats to run a white candidate because no matter what, he is still going to be racist if itís a white nominee." So apparently all white people are racist? Who knew!

5) ďItís outrageous the administration is saying anyone who might have committed a crime qualifies for deportations.Ē Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), on Twitter

It is not and cannot be ďoutrageousĒ to say that any illegal immigrant, criminal or not, qualifies for deportation. To maintain otherwise is to say that the United States cannot enforce its immigration laws, and not only that, it is ďoutrageousĒ to enforce the laws. Is that the position of the Democratic Party? Clarification is essential here. Is it? If so, by what set of values and principles do Democrats make this argument? Does the ďitís outrageous to enforce the lawĒ principle apply to other laws? Presumably it does, or the party has no integrity or legitimate governing philosophy at all.

Fair - but my post was less to do about the policies she supports and more about just the dumb shit that comes out of her mouth. Not as much dumb shit as Trump, surely, but she give many a run for their money.

when the levee breaks...

The single biggest challenge for the Dems on the left is figuring out the transition to medicare for all. Not just reciting Bernie's four year transition plan, but coming up with one that really works.

In the CNN town hall Harris was weak on this and on foreign wars.

They first need to to transition back from a bunch of unhinged lunatics to a party that actually gave a fuck about the middle class.
