Green Light for F1 Team "Really Close" - Michael Andretti

The green light from Formula 1 may now be looming...

"We’re hoping in the next couple weeks,” Michael Andretti said. “That would sure be a nice Christmas present.”

Involved in Andretti's F1 bid is Guggenheim, owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, which is said to be backing the new Andretti factory and willing to pay the $200 million entry fee for a Formula 1 franchise.

With the money supply backing from two heavy finacial hitters like Gainbridge and Guggenheim, there isn't any doubt that Andretti's F1 aspiration is well financed.

The money involved is simply phenomenal, Guggenheim putting up the $200 M entry fee for the franchise, money can buy you nearly everything.

If we can benefit in form of more fascinating F1 events, then: APPROVED!

I hope this goes through. Michael's F1 stint was short lived as a driver. Hopefully he can get a competitive team together. Won't be easy, just ask Haas.

Things are looking up as a pairing of Team Andretti Global with General Motors/Cadillac is announced today.

https://www.grandprix.com/news/fia-w...illac-bid.html

With the announcement that Andretti-Cadillac intend to make an "Expressions of Interest” to start a Formula One team, FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem made the following comment:

"The FIA is exploring the Expressions of Interest process and we will provide a further update in the near future. Today’s news from the United States is further proof of the popularity and growth of the FIA Formula One World Championship under the FIA’s stewardship. It is particularly pleasing to have interest fro"m two iconic brands such as General Motors Cadillac and Andretti Global."

"Any additional entries would build on the positive acceptance of the FIA’s 2026 PU regulations among OEMs which has already attracted an entry from Audi."

"Any Expressions of Interest process will follow strict FIA protocol and will take several months.”

I can't even describe how excited I am about this.

Ford blows, I want GM to represent the US in F1.

Looks promising I hope F1 gives them a shot with all the US GPs it needs a team and driver to help add to the audience. Will the other teams and the FIA / F1 back it well I'm sure there will be plenty of detail we won't see that will be the deciding factor.

When is F1 anything but lets face it. I hope the other teams grow up however, if they can find the money to get in the sport and compete then fair play to them and they should be allowed. However from what I'm hearing they might not be the only new team / engine supplier that might show up so it might not be such a sure thing if they add just one new team into the mix.

Rat Ba$tards...gotta be pure greed. No way current teams are skeered of Cadillac with a rebadged Renault engine.

“Our end goal is to be competing for the world championship five or six years down the road,”---Michael Andretti

“It’s all about money. First, they think they are going to get diluted one tenth of their prize money, but they also get very greedy thinking we will take all the American sponsors as well.
“It’s all about greed and looking at themselves and not looking at what is best for the overall growth of the series.”---Michael Andretti

“Cadillac will be very much involved in the manufacturing of the car. If we get in, in 2025, there won’t be a new engine yet, so we would have to go with a formula that is used now, but in 2026 there are various things we can do with another engine manufacturer."
“It would not be a badged engine, because there would be intellectual property from Cadillac in that engine, so that is not a badged engine.”---Michael Andretti

Just a few of Andretti's thoughts that are giving existing teams pause. You've got a series with three tiers of competing teams and the 2nd and 3rd tiers have shown that while they're incapable of becoming winners, they're happy with the payout scale. Then, that top tier doesn't want an entrant that could ultimately upset their level of pay.

Maybe by 2025 HAAS will actually be ready to leave F1 and can just sell team to Andretti/GM. Last few years for HAAS have been far from easy. If HAAS doesn't see in any progress over next two seasons, he will pack it up.
