Surprised? That's how the younger generation is.
The young crowd are just as inconsiderate as the older folks- just in different ways.

Ones abrupt. Crass.

The other inconsiderate.

I often encounter "old swimmers" who don't know how to swim properly, nor are they equipped properly (us true swimmers can spot them a mile away- swim with head above water. Or just goggles (no swim cap or ear plugs) or if they do have all of the above- and do swim cap first followed by goggles ontop- is another red flag.

I try to stay away from these "swimmers" they don't know how to lane share, let alone circle swim- they'll start "back stroking" while sharing a lane (that's hard for even competitive swimmers to do)

And of course- once I have my lane all to myself, instead of gauging if the other swimmers in the other lanes are more up to their skill level- they jump into mine.

What I tell them after they "accidentally" wack me in the face "imagine the pool lane is a squat rack. You can squat 135lbs and I'm squatting 405. There are two other squat racks with individuals squatting 180-225. If you insist on sharing, wouldn't you ask someone along your lifts? The pool is no different"

As you can tell, I take my swims seriously and I'm a slice of heaven

ALSO-

if there is one swimmer in a 3/4/5lane pool- you NEVER get the lane next to them unless all the other lanes are taken. In an empty pool- i always take the wall lane. So that if someone else shows up, they take the other wall lane. Leaving the middle open.

But noooooo, I don't know why people always insist on jumping into the lane next to mine having other lanes completely open.

Duhhh, drafting . . .

So, how much of the health benefit comes from not openly breathing? When I get done with my 800, I'm so out of breath, but no soreness in the muscles other than my diaphragm/lungs/heart. I'm THIS close to getting a snorkel.

If I have no hair on my head, do I still need a cap?

Drafting would be cool however I can assure you most don't have the speed for ME to benefit from it- they on the other May, but I doubt they're attempting to draft considering I glide and don't cause much drag.

I was going to say- bald heads are exempt- I usually wait and see the technique with baldies like you. Because the only thing better to cut drag other than a cap- is a bald head

What's that cranium of yours look like? Is it likely to scare folk or is it fairly round and clean?

What annoys me most is that people don't spray (cleanse) the machines after using them or don't return weights/mats to their places!

Gad made a few perfect heads, the rest he put hair on

I shave twice a week at best, so it's usually pretty scratchy actually. But not enough "drag" for me to worry about since a lap takes me about 25 seconds

Couple of noobies the other day, doing deadlifts with less than 135lbs. That in itself is fine, but they felt the need to wear belts, and left a heap of 25's, 10's and 5's (probably a pile of 8 plates) and left the area. The weights came from the rack I was in directly adjacent, but they couldn't be bothered to spend 30 seconds to re-rack.

When a group of friends take over all the squat racks or benches at once but instead of like working out, they are just talking or messing around.

Im not saying they are annoying, im saying its annoying because nothing gets done but take mental pictures and hope no slaps or scenes from the ladies bending ... stretching ... and cameltoe vpl's! Imagining the color , type, and material of panties or thong before I even work out or ask one of them out for dinner or even a smoothie break! If it don't get all over the place, it belongs on her face!

More pool antics last night: The pool is full of "bathers" standing in lanes. There are a pair of whales floating about, luckily the one was in bright pink so I didn't run aground. I guess with the whole buoyancy thing, it's easier to try to mate in the water <shudders> Another whale was hanging on desperately as it's younger, smaller companion was pulling/braiding it's hair under the water.

Then, I'm thinking I have a clear lane for a bit but suddenly feet are in my path. As I swerve but continue to swim, I'm hit broadside by Shark-Boy. I feel this hit on my hip, glance over, and the fucker literally has his hands in a V over his head.

I'm about done, and said Shark-boy (now in disguise without his sharky fin) is floating on his back across my lane. I pull up, remove my goggles, and just toss them on the desk in disgust, then get out.

I'm thinking I'm going to go sit in the Jacuzzi and relax, but I get there and the water has this brownish hue, and I can smell SOMETHING that isn't chlorine. I let them know at the front desk on the way out that I hope the county doesn't close it down AGAIN.

Going to a gym. I have a home gym and only ride bikes outdoors. I don't have to put up with some of the annoying people that do go to gyms.

I was at gym during rush hour last week (5-6pm) and this tool had taken one 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60lb dumbbell, set them each on the ground less than 12 inches from the dumbbell rack and did bent over rows with them. so not only was he using one of each of the 5 most popular dumbbell sets, he was blocking the entire dumbbell rack. seriously bad gym etiquette.
