Things that annoy you at the gym

I'd have to grab the 120lb DB's,walk alongside that camera setup and accidentally have one slip out my hand at just the right time.....I seriously,seriously miss the old hardcore juicehead gyms from back in the 80s/90s/00's..where you can train w like minded gym rats and know you can always grab a spot from someone who isn't gonna let that weight crush your neck while benching cause their too busy texting and not paying attention to you...the ones that had no or minimal air conditioning,no sanitizing stations,no candy dishes at the front counter and had chalk dust everywhere...where you'd hear people yelling/screaming at their training partner to get that personal best or last rep etc.
And if you were brave enough to bring in a camera you'd better be taking pics of your buddy with an Olympic bar across his shoulders,the bar bending like a banana 'cause your squatting 7 plates on each side with just a belt&knee wraps or,deadlifting 505lbs+ w just some chalk on your palms. And if you couldn't lift that amount of weight,you kept training your ass off til you could come close.
Nowadays you have these people taking vids of themselves benching 135lbs on a Smith machine or squatting 185lbs and not even close to parallel let alone ass to ankles. Hogging the weights/rack/bench because they have to take&post a vid on social media to impress others. GTFO with that shit. Honestly,the women seem much worse w this shit then the guys...posing w the duck-face expression showing their ass or tits off and fixing their hair/make-up right there on the gym floor so they can take a fucking selfie while you're just trying to finish your session before you lose your pump and they're preventing you from doing that cause their pics/vids are much more important than your workout. again,GTFO w that shit

Kinda the equivalent to owning a Honda Civic w a fart can muffler and huge two-tiered wing on the back that runs 17sec in the 1/4mi and you're at the NHRA Gator Nationals taking vids of your Civic posting how fast it is. Get in where you fit in lol

Nope. Not anymore. I train at Planet Fitness now,I followed my advice and got in where I fit in with all the other 50+ folks. I even have my Black Card membership. I have a few vids of members doing "exercises" I have never seen before and had to capture the moment because nobody would ever believe me,I have to laugh,shake my head and continue benching 135 on the Smith. 100% true

1990 worked out at Metroflex Gym Arlington (Original). Brian owned it. It was hot. Used to carry the bike out front into the sun and just cardio. Too old now. Still working out but adaptation is key ......... CPI stem cell shots in both wrists, shoulders, neck and lower back needed ........... ima happy wreck !

I'm experiencing so many different emotions by viewing those photos.

#1. Those women haven't spent any real time in a gym before clearly.
#2. I assume they are either wrapped up in pornography/only fans, based on their blatant lack of self awareness/concern for the other gym members by filming that way in those gross shorts. Indicates they are probably making some $ by peacocking their private parts in public .
#3. Bring bullying back, bring public shaming back, tell a manager that it's distracting and therefore potentially dangerous. If they want to film their fat (and gross) asses squatting in cinched biker shorts using dumbells, then ffs get out of other peoples way and go film in a different area.

We have some guys at our gym, one of them takes his shirt off and does jumping jacks and various shoulder exercises. He films for over an hour, nobody says anything but its super annoying. I don't mind if you setup your cell phone and take a quick selfie video, I've done them myself. It can really help with watching your form from a different angle you've never seen before. But bringing a tripod/real camera or a second camera person is just too much for a gym others are paying their hard earned money to get a good workout in free from nonsense and those photos definitely show a very high level of nonsense.

Now having said all that, if they were hot, I prob wouldn't mind so much .

What annoys me is the person that puts their towel, bag, water bottle, or weight belt on 3 or 4 different machines at the same time as if he owns the gym and no one else can use the equipment while he works out.

Apparently,at every Planet Fitness in my area if it's later than 6am lol.
I still cannot believe I train at a PF. The 90's/'00 version of myself would have never even entertained that thought!

It's OK, we all get old - er

I still pick my gym via a map: start at my house, increase the circle until I hit one. Luckily PF is still about 5 miles away, and the traffic to get there it would take probably 15-20 each way.

Same here. It's literally 5mins from my house and open 24hrs. Besides,like you said I'm older-er and have nothing to prove. And,being the Big Fish in the little pond of senior citizens makes me feel better about myself! I could never pull that off in a real gym

Not gonna lie,my main concern is getting that Premium handicap parking space right out front before the rest of the old cockers arrive

I’m a member of a PF and a brand new YMCA, i find having 2 gyms helps alot. Mixing up the atmosphere and getting to use different kinds of weights etc. The PF is also brand new and much to my surprise is full of very focused athletes for the most part. Shocking but true. Nobody there would do something like that, that’s dbaggery on another level imo. What city?

Hilton Head Island SC anytime between 8-11am on the weekdays is pure fuckery(can't comment on the evening but I'm sure its just as bad according to the crowd-meter on the PF app);I avoid it like the plague. Due to the demographics in my area,I can count the gyms on one hand,and 2 are PF. The other 3 are not suitable for me due to my handicap(s) so the alternative choices are extremely limited

Just started going to the PF I mentioned that is a few miles from my house. The equipment is older,and its not as clean sparkly&bright,nor is it as big as the new(er) PF on HHI but,I'm able to get a solid workout in at 3-ish AM before the lunacy begins because it gets very crowded during normal-people hours
