Why would my Differential Control Module be unplugged???!!!

So I have been getting a Chassis Stability malfunction, second time in 3 weeks since owning this car. It has been to the dealer to get 'fixed' once already. Since it happened again today I wanted to get under the car to see if any wires were lose on the suspension components. When I was disconnecting the battery, I found this module unplugged, just the rear connector was unplugged, not the top smaller connectors. Any reason why this may have been done? I'm starting to think whoever owned this car before or worked on it was a hack or trying to hide something. Appreciate the help!

Edit - Is this the EDC Module? I was reading that people disconnect this when coding out EDC? Just looking for some clarity on this.

That is the edc module and most likely was disconnected when they replaced their suspension with aftermarket coilovers. Weird that the dealer didn’t catch it.

Nope, GHAS controls the diff. VDC controls the EDC dampers.

Yeah agreed ...strange that they didn’t catch it especially when trying to resolve a chassis stability malfunction. It’s obvious they didn’t do much investigation to try and actually resolve the issue. I had EDC coded back in. Alex from Alpine MS found my two front shocks were showing up not even connected. Upon inspection I saw a rubbed through wire on the front driver side shock sensor (idiots who put the stock suspension back on didn’t even put the wire back into its holder on the shock) due to tire hitting it. I fixed it and now I’m getting a “chassis malfunction - contin driving possible”. Thanks for the responses!!

Sorry to revive this thread but did you ever find out why the GHAS was disconnected?

Rumour is this is done when you have a differential upgrade that no longer requires the components connected to it, I.e the servo motor.

I don't get how people are buying M cars without having them fully checked over. Was your car BMW certified?
