I'm gonna ask a noob question here... but how did you even get the light switch mechanism out of the dash?

Thx!

remove the trim above first start plying near the cluster....and then the switch you can just start pulling it off...pretty straight forward...took me like 20 seconds to get them out

Did mine about a month ago... thankfully haven't needed to use it yet. Only works when the headlights are on. Quick way to turn them on is to hit the regular fogs and then the rear fogs.

i wonder if all 2010 e9xs have the white thing already in the assembly...
it wouldve made my life easier by just having to snip the button's tabs rather than making a lego popsicle stick gluey thing.

Rear fog light mod...

Thanks for posting this DIY. I'm going to give it a go this weekend, but I have a question that I didn't see addressed in this thread. Do I have to have Xenon lights for this mod to work? I ask because the actual European light switch required it if one were to purchase it, at least according to the product description. It also says that the rain sensor and front fogs were required. I have those, of course, just not the Xenon. If I can use this mod w/o that, then I'll do it.

I have an '06 E90.

Thanks!

Did this last friday night, took me an hour while watching tv so im guessing it couldve been about 30 minutes but it wasnt too difficult as you have to be careful not to break anything while un clipping all the pieces.

No xenons needed. Worked perfectly on my '06 325i w/ halogens.

I did it again and it works great, my others were just a little bit too wide at the bottom but I fixed them so now I have 2 extras! Maybe I'll need them later...

I'm not saying people on this forum would do that, just be aware and use them appropriately (ie in heavy rain and dense fog).
the audi swithc is stupid audi can not control the rear fogs when u put on the front fogs, the rear fogs automatically comes on.

That is completely incorrect. The rears are controlled separately from the fronts on Audis.

Got around to doing this yesterday. I ended up using a wire nut and a golf tee. Works perfectly!
