New 330XI headrests suck

The new headrests are thicker by about 2" than the past ones and are uncomfortable (they don't allow your head back far enough to be at a neutral angle). These headrests are not the same as the ones on the vehicle I test drove in April, but are now appearing on all new vehicles being delivered. I have compared notes with another new 330XI owner who picked his car up just last week. Both of our wives hate these headrests. So far, I have not gotten any info back from dealership on why these have changed or how we can get them "fixed". From other threads, these new headrests may be a redesign to improve rear collision crash test ratings but thats just a guess on my part. Any insights on this out there? I have attached a picture of the new headrest - and you can see that it has an extra seam in it not found in most other pictures posted.

I don't this that it's only for the xi.

Maybe it's only for the none sports seats.

Is that a lemon interior? Just wondering. And yes, the head rests do look large.

The sports package option on the xi is GREAT!

You get the hugging seats, the cool thicker small steering wheel and a good looking set of wheels (158s) without the performance suspension and tires (which I didn't want) for only $900 ($820 dealer invoice).

What were you thinking?
