Sure, just remember it's not the same thing.

We as viewers of the baby image know that there is a mom and consider that to be a fact. The babies don't know of a mom because they aren't born yet and haven't seen her. We know babies come from moms and for them to deny the mom's existence makes them wrong.

To make the leap to atheists you need to know that there is a god and consider that to be a fact. Then you can claim that, for one reason or another, atheists denying god's existence makes atheists wrong.

The problem is the "knowing there is a god" thing. Some people see facts / evidence / and consider it to be obvious there is a god. Some people see a lot of interesting, confusing stuff they can't explain but don't decide that there is a god and that the god did it.

If you believe in god, great, the baby image may serve to illustrate your position. But to use it to tell an atheist that the atheist is wrong is makes about as much sense as a picture of two ball point pens in a jar of grape jelly arguing if the sun smells good. It just isn't relevant.

I don't think BMW meant to post the twin pics as a point for discussion. I think he just wanted to pick on Atheists in humorist way.

True. I understand you can't really make the jump to God etc, even though the analogy is there. just some light humor. Sorry haven't been posting lately. Been out of town.

Anyone have anything they want to discuss?

Organised religion lead to the creation of many atheists IMO.
Many of the scriptures just don't stand for logic, faith is a slippery slop that can lead to blind devotion.
So I think we'll all atheists in reality, just that some chose to "believe", like taking out an insurance policy for the afterlife.

It was, I bought a car

Point taken, but we still can't even agree on basics.

While there are many things about Christianity that do not make sense. The Horus/Christ comparison is false. People like to make the association... and it may be related... but the facts are not true:

• Horus was born to Isis; there is no mention in history of her being called “Mary.” Moreover, “Mary” is our Anglicized form of her real name, Miryam or Miriam. “Mary” was not even used in the original texts of Scripture.
• Isis was not a virgin; she was the widow of Osiris and conceived Horus with Osiris.
• Horus was born during month of Khoiak (Oct/Nov), not December 25. Further, there is no mention in the Bible as to Christ’s actual birth date.
• There is no record of three kings visiting Horus at his birth. The Bible never states the actual number of magi that came to see Christ.
• Horus is not a “savior” in any way; he did not die for anyone.
• There are no accounts of Horus being a teacher at the age of 12.
• Horus was not “baptized.” The only account of Horus that involves water is one story where Horus is torn to pieces, with Isis requesting the crocodile god to fish him out of the water.
• Horus did not have a “ministry.”
• Horus did not have 12 disciples. According to the Horus accounts, Horus had four demigods that followed him, and there are some indications of 16 human followers and an unknown number of blacksmiths that went into battle with him.
• There is no account of Horus being betrayed by a friend.
• Horus did not die by crucifixion. There are various accounts of Horus’ death, but none of them involve crucifixion.
• There is no account of Horus being buried for three days.
• Horus was not resurrected. There is no account of Horus coming out of the grave with the body he went in with. Some accounts have Horus/Osiris being brought back to life by Isis and then becoming the lord of the underworld.

It was a joke, more or less, but I appreciate your analysis.

In any event, most organized religions follow a similar pattern, which was the point of the .jpg.

Not really, some religions are very different than the ones that originate from the middle east. Buddhism does not have any God or Gods in it. No one prays to a God. There is no one to "save" them from anything.

The three Abrahamic religions follow a very similar formula and they make up a majority of world religions, hence my comment.

Buddhism is of course much different, but it's a small portion of the global religious community.

It is the largest religion after the top Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam) and Hinduism. It accounts for 5% of the world's population. There are more Buddhists than believers in Judaism.

I see that I'm not being specific enough.

Again, the implication about Buddhism is that it was small versus the aforementioned "Big Three" Abrahamic religions.
