RIP Kobe Bryant

Shocking news tonight. Not a big fan of his being a Celtics fan but I have nothing but respect to him as a sportsman and later in his life, an advocate for young ball players. Rest In Peace.

That's awful. A tragedy that no family should ever endure. He was my all time favorite basketball player and I must say I have been watching less NBA after his retirement. I will be wearing my very old Lakers Tshirt with his MVP logo from '07 tomorrow at the gym to honor this great athlete.

One of the greatest Lakers ever, and the brightest star in Los Angeles! God bless you Kobe and thank you for so many years of maximum effort and entertainment. We are sure gonna miss you.

Kobe was my lil bro’s idol growing up. When we heard the news my sister called him and he was crying from the news. Some sad stuff for sure. Life is so damn short.

This one is rough for me. Huge Laker fan and huge Kobe fan. I found out getting out of my car at the grocery store. Someone I didn’t know saw my license plate frame (Lakers) and asked if I knew. Was in total shock. Literally stood in the produce aisle with my cart trying to read up on the news.

RIP - Mamba out.

Absolutely stunned by this news. A great player as well as a person. The NBA lost a legend today. Prayers going out to his family as well as the rest of the people who perished in this horrible tragedy.

really makes you stop and think....no matter what you do; no matter how well you do it; if its your time to go, you go. have to really learn to appreciate everyday; which gets harder and harder with our toxic society.

such a smart guy; analyzed the game so well. loved listening to him speak

Well said G35. Not everyday is given. Something like this tragedy puts things into perspective. As you said, such a smart and well spoken guy.

NO NO NO,
this did not happen, just echoing sentiments of millions of other fans, my sincere condolences to his family and the families of the other occupants in the helicopter.

this makes me sick. a mother losing her child is one thing, but to lose the husband too? whom will she mourn to? i can't comprehend how she will cope.

Planes getting shot down, corona virus, and now Kobe? It's not even February, fuck you 2020. this is bullshit

Respect to one of the best Celtics adversaries over the years. Great sportsman in and out of the court. He wasn’t perfect, though. As it was said, in time we will all go back to dust to where we were made from. Rest in peace.

I'm a self-proclaimed Kobe stan. I grew up watching him play and love his killer "mamba" mentality. To me he was, and always will be, the closest player we will see to Jordan. He basically just retired and was doing so many good things after his playing career. I still remember game 2 of the '04 Finals when he buried that buzzer shot against my Pistons.

I was in the 4th grade when 9/11 happened and I remember where I was and what I was doing. Today I feel the same. I've been distraught and unable to do anything besides lament and pray.

Love your parents, siblings, and friends. Make that extra effort to call and meet those people who are dear to you. You don't know how long they, or you, will be around for.

So heart-breaking sad, RIP Kobe. So young, and the daughter also.

RIP Kobe. My favorite and my son's favorite NBA player. As a father I can't help but imagine what it must've been like to be in that situation w/ your daughter knowing the end is near. Horrible and tragic. We must live life to the fullest and cherish every day we have on this earth.

Still in shock. As a SoCal kid I use to imitate Kobe's moves in my driveway, trying to recreate his buzzer beater shots. I can't believe he didn't even live long enough to see his hall of fame inauguration. Way too young. I still remember those 3 peat seasons, the energy in Staples center on game night was amazing. Kobe is forever LA, forever SoCal. Condolences to Vanessa losing her child and husband, sickening. RIP

OK, I’ll go first.

The talk about what a great guy he was is somewhat nauseating.

Let’s not forget there is verifiable evidence he wasn’t a great husband and a possibility he may have been a very bad person.

It does suck for the family, but that goes with any death, including the others that died in that helicopter. It’s sad he’s the only one talked about.
