Mark Jackson Fired
I think everyone could see this coming but there was no way Warriors were going to beat the Clippers. Do you think he has underachieved? He took a 20 win franchize to 50+ wins and in his 3 seaons got them to the playoff's twice. I am not a Mark Jackson fan but I'm not sure he deserved to be fired. What do you guys think? They didnt even let his contract run out like Vinny Del Negro who got 56 wins and had a franchize best 17 game winning streak. Not a VDN fan either lol. Who will coach the warriors and will they do better?

Like the Clippers did in finding a coach better than the previous one, I think the Warriors will do the same. Personally, I think expectations were high this season after signing Iguodala, and they disappointed in that respect. Of course the coach is going to be the first to be axed after a disappointing season. I believe they'll be back next year, and perform better than this season.

The Clippers are on a mission. Mark didn't deserve the ax but as stated earlier......someone had to pay the price. I think he'll land in a better situation............Phil

I get that you're a hardcore clippers fan and I am a hardcore warriors fan and I'm not trying to turn this into a fight BUT how can you say there was no way that the warriors could beat the clippers? with the exception of game 2 all the games were close including game 7, if we made 2 more baskets (or even freethrows) and you guys missed 1 or 2 more, it would be totally different
now with that said, even as a warriors fan I am not TOO sad that Jackson was let go, he was a great motivator and speaker BUT he's not good drawing up plays, towards the end of game 7 it was painfully obvious. Joe lacob is a guy who strives for wins, he has the same goals as the fans AND I'm sure he knows a lot more about basketball than the fans so if he thinks is someone out there better who can lead us to more wins I'm going to trust him over some fans. on top of that I also heard that Jackson had a lot of friction with not only the front office but as well as the assistant coaches and some players (not sure if this is true or not) but if that is true then it justifies the firing a lot more as well

Management must have had issues with Jackson. Jackson doesn't come off as being a yes man; as he shouldn't. This firing seems personal.

Wonder who's gonna replace him and if it makes sense for Warriors to trade green and Lee for Kevin love

Mark Jackson was a great preacher and a decent motivator, but a below average basketball coach. He actually overachieved in Round 1 by taking the Clippers all the way to game 7 without any of his centers (Bogut, Ezeli, O'neal).
Mark was known by many hardcore insider Warrior fans as "pockets" because his hands would always be inside his pockets throughout the game, especially during timeouts and crucial situations. I definitely won't miss him as a coach or lack thereof. I always thought he was brought in as a publicity stunt when they first hired him almost 3 years ago. No legit team in the NBA hires a zero-experience first year coach and expect to win games by way of coaching strategy. Don't even mention Jason Kidd. If I were to pick a new coach for the Warriors, I would go with the following guys in the exact order: 1. Jerry Sloan 2. Lionel Hollins 3. Stan Van Gundy 4. Nate McMillan 5. John Stockton (if available) 6. Steve Kerr 7. George Karl 8. Sam Mitchell 9. Avery Johnson 10. Kevin Ollie |
