Tell me about it. Wifey is the anti-assistant when it comes to me shooting stuff.

Yes, my "blinkies" are on. This shot was in full shade. Hence, there was little danger of blowout on the subject.

A weathered barn with bright clouds is a tough subject, often with huge dynamic range. Time to go reaslistic multi-shot HDR.

i seem to have lost some quality in the conversion, should probably go over the settings in my post processing engine, but just to give you an idea of some of the scenery we saw on voyage.

the whitish rock is all quartz, so it was a nice challenge to expose right. It reflected a lot of light.

this lake is called Lake Topaz, it's not connected to any other bodies of water, and it is a dead lake, so going for a swim in it feels a bit eerie. it definitely has chemicles still in it keeping it from growing and moss or seaweed type things on the rocks, so your grip is amaizing walking into it.

was afraid someone was going to complain about the horizon cutting across the subject a bit

seems like the subject distracted from that though

It doesn't bother me at all. I think the subject stands out enough from the background and horizon that it doesn't matter. I didn't even notice until you mentioned it.

Here's one of my first shots through the 135L:

wow, quite the palate of colours!!!

how are you liking it so far? are you shooting full frame or crop body?

I know you're really going to enjoy that lens. I like shooting small objects with it to play with the DOF. I've also shot a few portraits with it, and it's a great focal length on a full frame.

Thanks! The colors and saturation are untouched in post-processing. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm using it on a crop sensor so it's roughly 216mm. I'm finding the focal length to be a bit more usable than my 200mm f/2.8L was.

great exposure and stuff, but i'm not sure the pose is very convincing natural.... that pose might work better in a bedroom set.

no, i didn't. she was almost sandwiched between the sun and the light, so there were a couple weird shadows. it was a shoot for her portfolio...she wants to get into fitness modeling and there's not much of a market for that around here, so i told her to try for the glamour or fashion world. there's more of that. anyway...she brought a self-described fashion stylist with her, and she did most of the posing.
