Hood chip
I know before anyone says it I should’ve had my entire hood PPF instead of just front, partial hood and fender so don’t beat me up please.
I have a gouge in my 2023 8C hood from a rock. I took it to dealer and they want almost $3500 and want to take my entire front end apart and possibly blend fender. Vehicle is garaged even while at work so can’t imagine any paint fade has occurred since I bought the car new in December. Anyone have a recommendation for a body shop in DFW? Hopefully not too far from Las Colinas. And fyi, I’m super picky… Ignore the top circle, those buffed out.. Thanks!

I know this doesn't help but learned my lesson too. I would say try to get it spot repaired instead of fully painted. It'll never look the same again despite the painter's heroics. I'd try some Dr. Colorchip and apply some patience.

Actually, looking at that again, I think some rubbing compound will take care of the top ones. Then some Dr. Colorchip to fill in the bottom one.

This. Get that thing touched up and call it a day. OP, it's not too late to get proper PPF coverage. The next massive rock chip can happen tomorrow.

Full hood PPF definitely the plan once I settle on best way to fix. I don’t mind doing a touch up on the bottom 2 (top 2 already buffed out). Just not sure if the PPF will mask the touch up at all. I know I’m likely being unrealistic, but would really like it to look new again.

Check around with dealerships. They usually have contact with mobile touchup techs. I had some damage/chips to a Volvo hood and he touched it up to the extent that I could not see where the damage was originally. Otherwise try Dr Colorchip

I have a local mom and pop auto body shop in town and I go to him for everything and pay cash. I would find a local guy. Ask around every town has a really good autobody guy.

My advice is to use the $3500 that the dealer quoted to you and spend it on PPF for the entire front of your car. You will get a much better ROI with your money! |

Dr. Colorchip should make that mostly disappear. It'll likely take many layers to fill the divot. I had a chip on my car that filled up nicely prior to my PPF appointment. I can't even find it anymore.

Say My Name should let his PPF shop do the touchup repair for him, shops like this should know what to do.
