I don't know how it works in California, but I was recently given a ticket for speeding. I went to court and the officer testified I was speeding. Luckily for me the officer wrote the ticket for the wrong citation (going too slow and blocking the right of way of others). I pointed it out in court...dismissed!

trafficschool.com is quick and pretty easy -- 70% correct required for all the practice tests, as well as the final exam.

Check your letter from the court and make sure you're taking a course that is certified by your county.

You can do Defensive Driving/Traffic School is Mobile as well

I agree with what was said. Just want to add that you can also do Defensive Driving/Traffic School on mobile.

I got speeding ticket for going 80mph in 40mph work zone. I used DefensiveDrivingApp.com remove 4 points and lower car insurance. What I hate about traffic schools is that they put a lot of small timers. For example I Drive Safely puts 100+ timer ranging between 1 to 3 minutes long. Which makes it hard to chat on Facebook and run the course.

My friend recommended me DefensiveDrivingApp.com. They have 10 timers (only 1 timer per section), Plus, you can take course on mobile phone. The only thing you need to do is adjust your auto lock because if your screen is off then timer stops counting your time. My default value on my iPhone is auto lock in 1 minute. I adjusted it to never while I run the course. You can find this setting on iPhone under Genera --> Auto Lock. What I did is run course on mobile and when I am done with a section I sit in front of desktop, open two tabs: one tab for previous section and one tab with questions and just answer all the questions.

Rinse and repeat for other sections. Total time that required my attention was about 30 mins. I used coupon code SMART5 to get $5 OFF my course.

Cheers.

Traffic school does not lessen the financial burden, it merely gets the point off the CA driving record!

I suggest you go old school with this and go get a paper dictionary (i.e. a book) and look up the word "Stop". Then go to the judge and tell him you've read the definition of the word "Stop" and now fully understand what it means and you'll "never, ever, ever, like, do it a gain."

why does cali make you go to traffic school for a road violation like running a stop sign? Is it an age thing or something?

I had a cop pull me over and said I rolled a stop sign. He starts asking me why I did it, what's going on, etc. I stayed silent. He starts getting mad and asking me if I was drinking or stoned and if there's a problem. I simply said "No. I don't believe I have to answer any of your questions. Would you like to see my license and insurance". After yelling at me that he'll ask the questions and telling me he's just trying to "humanize" the situation he checked my insurance and license and then told me next time to come to a complete stop before walking away.

It might be hard to do but don't say anything and live to fight another day. Go to court and have them prove you rolled that stop sign. It's on them to prove it. It's not on you to prove they didn't. How exactly are they going to do that unless they either have dash cam footage or routinely give good evidence and have an impeccable record for doing things by the book? Have fun with that.

The police officer is the witness. The judge either believes him, or you.

Make sure that what others are posting is true - that this is just a ticket, and will disappear. Some stop-sign infractions are a higher level of 'crime' and don't go away (in OH, some were actually misdemeanors that you end up having to report on any security/job forms for a decade). If it is one of those, I'd try the 'postpone and then appear' bit and hope they don't show up, or that the judge will knock it down to just a ticket.

You can try postponing. Sometimes the officer doesn't show up. When you go to trial it's pretty common to see multiple cases being dismissed and people walking out free and clear no fine, no traffic school and no points on driving record.

Go to "Waze", see where the police are.

And stop at stop signs.

They don't let you schedule for a day the officer has already declared he will be unavailable. So you better hope none of his police vehicles will start that morning.

Find the LA County court website. You can do it all online. I would say you should extend your deadline (you can do it twice). You can try to fight by mail and see if the cop responds. Then you can take traffic school. Last ticket I hired a lawyer and they took care of it for me. That can be another option for you.

I'm in Ventura County. The last time I went to the "ticket window" outside of traffic court. I showed my notice to appear, and asked for a date. The kind lady gave me maybe 3 choices for when the officer had court dates scheduled. I couldn't pick the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, nor the Tuesday after Memorial Day. That tactic is now a thing of legend.

Some of your traffic rules are really ridiculous for foreigners and your cops thinking they are half-gods and everytimes right. Im glad to had avoided any confrontations during my long holiday at SoCal...
