Hopefully the Timmelsjoch (Solden Pass) will reopen soon. Right now it remains closed due to snow. The weather there is just above freezing... but the pass should be open for this weekend. They say we will have warmer weather here in Germany by Sunday.


I would just keep an eye on the Timmeljoch's website. I myself was thinking of driving down there and down into Northern Italy this coming week. I guess we will all have to wait and see.

I will say that you could always drive down the Brenner Autobahn and into Italy. For sure the weather will be at least +8'C more in Italy.

Oh geez.........yes. I'll check that out. The only place that looks sunny on Sunday is Rothenburg ob de Tauber! Prague was rainy today, but it is still a gorgeous city, even in the rain.

Looking at the weather makes me so glad I didn't budge from my late August/Early September ED. I didn't give up till I found a CA who could gurantee that timeframe. Was an amazing 75-85F for all 16 days with not a single drop of rain😄

lol. Yup, I originally had a Sept. 18 delivery scheduled, but had to push it back because of work schedules.

Today the drive from Prague to Salzburg was very nice. Dry, partly sunny, and lovely side roads. The back up on the Autobaun from Austria into Germany went on for MILES and MILES. Fortunately we were headed the other way. The migrant crisis is having an impact.

We stayed on smaller side roads the the hills, through Passau, and many small, charming Austrian cities. It was a lovely day of driving.'

The Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstrasse (Pass) is still closed. Looks like it will be a few more days until its open.

I just saw that starting from today(!), the Timmelsjoch Pass (aka Solden Pass)will be open. You don't need winter tires, but as they say... winter tires are recommended.

Well, sort of. But I read it on the Lufthansa flight to Munich for my ED last week! Very timely! So it is actually connected with ED!

And since the museum featured essentially the same car, even more appropriate! lol

Great trip so far. Had some crazy driving. Most scary doing Como to Bellagio at night. Have some videos from my buddy phone, will post later. Weather has been perfect, just missed snow in the Alps.

Tires are Michelin.
