Mercedes AMG GLE 53 review

Hi guys

Recently tested a Mercedes AMG GLE 53 (say that 3x fast). If you're deciding between an X5 and the Merc, I'd stay with the Roundel here. The GLE is super comfy and lux, but it's missing the V8 and it's not very adept at driving pleasure.

Not to rain on your parade, but in your review you said this vehicle has a V6 when in fact it is an inline 6.

Yup, I adjusted, sorry about that.

Cardinal Red looks gorgeous on the GLE. The engine definitely suits the sedans more since it has to deal with less weight. Had a CLS53 and the engine was a gem, effortlessly smooth, sounds great, and the electric supercharger provides a naturally aspirated feel in power building. For the SUV's though, honestly the 450 is more than enough, still smooth, but more prioritized for comfort which is what the GLE does best. I'm personally not a fan of modern "sport" SUV's, for the same price as an X5M/GLE63, I'd rather get a proper sports car and a regular X5 40i/GLE450 for family duty.

Also, shouldn't this article be in the Non-BMW section of the forum?

These AMG 53 cars are barely faster than BMW M40 cars. This thing will get eaten alive by an X5 M50, forget an X5M

Amazing that Mercedes has made some of their pseudo-AMG models look identical to the 63 models. For image conscious shoppers this is great. Spend a fraction of the money to look like you're balling out hard.

The GLE 53/63 and AMG GT 53/63 look the same to me.

It was not fast or sporty. For the same or less, an M50 X5 is where it's at for me.

Appreciate you taking the time to write down this review rather than just throwing up a lazy Youtube link in order to get views/likes/comments. Bravo!
