Hey guys,

Im from Vancouver BC, Canada. A few STi friends and I are coming to Pacific Raceway on June 30th for tracking open lapping day.

We were wondering do cops hassle / give tickets for no front licence plate?
The reason im asking is because I see that majority of the car meets in the Photo Gallery section of e90Post in the US dont have front plates...

They don't really give you shit for not having front plates as long as you arent acting a fool, don't worry, I don't have any front plates and been pulled over a couple of times, and they never said anything about it.

I was pulled over for the first time for having no front plates on my IS250. I've had it for over a year and a half with no trouble. It was in downtown Renton, and I was waiting at a red light sitting behind a city cop. I noticed he kept looking back in his side mirror, and I was thinking oh great. As soon as the light turned green he pulled aside to let me pass then pulled me over. He started going on some shpiel about stolen cars not having plates in the area. I was given a written warning.

Awhile back I had a 96 Integra and got pulled over the day i decided to take the front plate off to show off my new mesh grille. Just a warning on that one.

IMO it seems like the big city cops will leave you alone, but the rural/suburban cops will nab you if they're not doing anything.

so is there any actual "NO display of front plate" ticket in WA???

also, are Valentine 1 radars LEGAL to be used here cause i know some states dont allow radars

yes, there is a ticket for that. the wa state law is RCW 46.16.240 which states:

“The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they can be plainly seen and read at all times.”

with that said, i haven't ever been cited or stopped for not having a front plate nor hassled about it. bottom line is, don't drive like an ass or give them an excuse to pull you over and you will be fine.

yes, radars are legal here. v1's are great!

btw, have fun at pr for your track day. i just did the pca track day this last thursday and it was a blast. great weather!
