BMW may re-enter F1 to compete with German rivals

How super cool would be to have BMW with Formula 1!

For now there's rumors but we've seen a few rumors coming in and that starts to be a good sign! How you would see BMW back on the field?

Quote from another source, which is a comment on a blog:

"Is it plausible for 2026 to see:-

Red Bull (TAG Heuer) Porsche
Mercedes AMG
Ferrari
Alpine Renault
Audi F1
McLaren BMW
AlphaTauri Lamborghini (it’s VW owned)
Aston Martin
Williams Honda
Haas Dodge SRT"

"Plausible" but highly unlikely. If anything, maybe be an engine supplier but anything that requires a large investment, can't see BMW doing it.

I agree. BMW has stated in the past that they had no interest in developing a V6 platform when BMW is committed to the inline 6 for their road cars. If the PU is a different configuration in 2026 they may return

BMW is only partnered with McLaren for EV.

I don't see them coming back to F1 at all.

Another engine supplier would be a great addition to the sport, even better if the hybrid nonsense is dropped.

Seriously doubt BMW would actually develop a car.

BMW would make the driver pay a subscription to use DRS.

Yeah there's some rumors but nothing more than that. Let's see what the coming times will bring. Wouldn't be awesome to see this ones back....

No way BMW does anything with F1 as its too expensive and not really a part of their strategy. It was a nice surprise that they would develop a GTP car, but their motorsport heritage is all built around sports cars, not open wheel racing.

I’ve said this before but i expect BMW to be 100% more interested in collaborations like Kith over collabs that they once had with Williams and Sauber

The people who buy cars have changed. Look at Mercedes and the new collabs they have been doing - that's something they haven't really done in the past, or at least to that certain market or demographic. That has always been more of a BMW thing.

Yep - looks like only Williams is left considering Sauber and Audi are the next F1 project.

+1

They won't even join MotoGP although their branding is everywhere there. At most, they will get a Safety Car in F1.
