Garage List
Website that tracks dealer markups

Yes, ADM sucks and now the dealers practicing this shady stuff are being put on blast for everyone to know. The capitalism defense is hollow. Any dealership who's on this list, regardless of make/model, should be blackballed IMO. Buyers are listing some as no markup regarding the model that they purchased so kudos to them.

20k markups on ford mavericks. I hope there aren't people stupid enough to pay some of these. We are doomed as a civilization.

Fantastic! I hoped there would be such a crowd-sourced site to catalog this. Hopefully people will use it to avoid the unscrupulous ones and patronize those that are holding the line!

If a dealer told me there was a "Mark Up" over sticker...

I'd say C Ya...

There's an old saying "There's a sucker born every minute!"

Hope the parent Corp(s) come down hard on these renegade dealers!

All it takes is for everyone to delay their purchases for 30 days , and I mean EVERYONE
The manufacturers will change that rule real quick

Unless you're the biggest sucker out there, first step is to not pay over sticker.

Second rule is to keep the ones in mind that did charge above sticker and avoid them like the plague going forward, ESPECIALLY when this madness is done.

Third rule is to advertise the crap out of the ones that did right by their customers and send EVERYONE their way.

Sure, but when inventory is scarce, those willing to pay are the ones that will receive. People have extremely short memories too, once inventory is not scare, they'll flock to the one that is $1 cheaper, no matter how bad they were in the past. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

That be true. Heck, wasn't GM the one that calculated it was better to just pay for the eventual deaths/srs injuries due to some defect on one of their vehicles instead of paying more $$$$$ to fix the deadly prb? Ppl totally forgot about that and are just lining up to buy the latest Vette.

The one thing that gets me with these known markups is where are the Feds? They're posturing all over the place about price gouging with gas prices. Where are they with these insane dealer markups? I know the answer....

The once willing to pay = the suckers.

Friend of my just bought a new one-ton Dodge. Was able to negotiate $12K off sticker. He got a good deal and the dealership still made a bundle in profit.

Others might forget, but I won't. But then again, I'm a spiteful person.

Unfortunately, my mom was in this situation a couple of months ago. She refused to listen to me about dumping her 2002 Jeep Liberty when it started giving her problems 2 to 3 years ago. Said the car still has low miles (she doesn't drive a lot) and the body is still in good condition. Then the slow death by a thousand cuts started happening. One repair that we thought would keep the car going. Then another. Then the car shortage hit which sort of forced her hand to having to keep the car and sink more money into it.

Finally, the last straw was the engine went. Now she's carless. Fortunately, my manager has a contact that's a GM at a Nissan dealership. So we were able to get a Rogue Sport with no mark up at straight MSRP.

In our situation, we had no choice. It's the ones that don't have to buy which are still fueling this ridiculousness. I recently bought a 2022 BMW S1000RR. I went into it where I had a hard line in the sand. I'm not paying over MSRP. And I didn't. I actually got $500 off MSRP along with an accessory thrown in.

I find it amusing how people get all up in arms about supply and demand based pricing when it comes to a privileged commodity like cars, but those same people will gladly over pay for cigarettes and alcohol when those prices get gouged.

Look at gas for instance. Prices of oil barrels were lower this year than 2008, yet we pay more for gas??? Where is the collective banning together to boycott gas stations until prices get lower? How about housing? Taxes on money thats already taxed? PS5's when they first launched? Hell even still now...

Forget those, carry on getting mad about new cars 0 people need but everyone wants.

i think its fueled 2 ways.

1) you have the people with excessive disposable income who dont care about markups.

2) and you have the people who are too dumb to know how financing and interest works. they only care about the monthly payment as they pretty much live month to month with no long term outlook. most dealers try to use that angle on everyone first.

there's also the 'keeping up with the joneses' .... nobody wants their next car to be a downgrade in this social media age.

Let's get back to reality. The vast, vast majority of automotive buyers only care who's providing the best price when they're ready to buy. They wont go spend more somewhere else just because the lowest priced dealer previously applied market adjustments to someone else.

They aren't when you account for inflation. Adjusted inflation prices at their high would have put current oil approaching $200 bbl
