Again though, the 4090 is literally a game changer in VR, especially driving headsets like my HP Reverb G2, or a Pimax 8K for example.
Im just playing battlefield 4, 2042, GTA5, RDR2 and Rust. RDRD and GTA 5 tax my system the most. But it looks and runs good at whatever medium like setting I am using.

I'll jump up to a better card at some point.

Well, I ended up building a new gaming rig.

Check out my build. I still have some work to do. But so far its running great!

Corsair 4000X RGB Case
Asus Z790 Rog Strix
Intel I9-13900K
32GB Corsair DDR5-6400MHz RGB
(2) 2TB Samsung 980 Pro M2 drives
Nvidia RTX 4090 FE
Corsair1200W Swift AT3 spec.
Corsair H150 Elite Cooler
8 Corsair LL120 Fans

Highest Temp playing BF4 was 56C GPU and 45C CPU. Not bad for a hot running CPU and GPU!

HEY ALL! My RTX4090 founders edition FRIED! It melted the power cable to the port! Yes mine was plugged in all the way.

There are reports of this all over the web for a year now. I assumed they had fixed it. Guess not!

Be warned. The RTX4090's new power plug is an issue to monitor weekly!

If they ‘fix it’ itll be by reducing the power limit of the card. No way are they recalling them to replace connectors. Still it seems rare enough that they can just warranty them until you are SOL.

My understanding is the cabling is the culprit, not the card. A lot of folks were using improper, cheap cabling with kinks or cheap connectors that couldn't handle the load, and not supporting the cables causing stress on the connector.

You mean the included nvidia designed adapter? Whose fault is that?

I heard they lowered the voltage from 1100 to 1070 or something like that too. Honestly, I dont care. This thing is a MONSTER. It runs everything I throw at it with so much ease. And since mine fried, Im scared to run another to be honest. I asked nvidia to give me a refund. They said no and that my new one WONT due this. Hmm. My 4090 was purchased in may. I would have thought, it would have included the new lower voltage firmware. Who knows. But Im ok with lowering it down some. Its too much as it is.

I think its a mix of all of the above. Many with the nvidia 4 way adapter had issues too. The super small design is just not as robust as what we had before.

Crazy that mine fried. And even more crazy that I just so happened to be sitting next to it. It just went up in smoke so quick. Scared the shit out me. Im lucky I was sitting there.
