im gonna burn in hell...
yep.
was out and about with my kid yesterday. went to SoCal euro, ran some errands, hung out with a friend and his kids at the pool. it was all good. Heading home around 6pm, we get on I-8 (i HATE that freeway). Traffic is pretty dense, but moving around 70-75mph. I am in the first (right) lane and a Suburban about 2-3 car length in front of me. All of a sudden something black flies from under the Suburban right in front of my car. It happened so fast that i did not even have time to swerve to avoid it. When it was RIGHT in front of my car i realize that it was a little *KITTTEN* and i ran the little guy over I looked in my mirror right after that because i still could not believe that a kitten would be in a freeway lane, and saw him beating in agonizing pain after being thrown from under my car into the second lane. I started screaming "OMG! OMG!" and tried to pull over but there was a million of cars behind me and pretty much no freeway shoulder. My kid was in the car too, so there was no way i could stop there and risk my kids life to get the poor kitten off the freeway, plus he was already in the second lane. I suspect the poor little guy wondered onto the freeway by accident from one of the houses sitting on top of the hill 100ft away from where it happened and there was no guard rail of any kind, so we just walked into the traffic My kid was whaling for the rest of the night and i was pretty shaken up by that, especially because I have a cat myself... Not a good ending to a great Saturday afternoon

That's too bad ...Glad to see you guys are safe though. It could have been worse, like hitting a dear.
I recall my dad hitting a horse when I was about 4-5 yr. old and it was aweful. We were going on a summer vacation with the family, driving in a back country road. This horse decided to take off and cross the road right in front of us all of a sudden. My dad hit the brakes but it was too late. The horse noticed the car at the last second and tried to back out but it was too late. His head hit the right side of the windshield and shattered it into pieces falling right into my Mom's lap. Good thing she was wearing sunglasses or she would had the glass shards in her eyes. The horse was not dead but badly injured ...and our vacation was ruined for a good 2-3 days before our memories of the event faded a bit. Last edited by Tondtar; 06-28-2009 at 05:27 PM.. |

You had no control over what happened. You didn't hit the kitten on purpose, so don't worry about hell yet

I ran over a bird sitting in the middle of the road a couple weeks ago. I figured it would just fly away (as all birds do) once I got near enough....I was going about 30 mph.
Well the bird didn't move....and I tried to center the car over the bird so he could escape from underneath the car....but then I hear a loud ass "THUMP" Look back in my rear view and see the poor little guy flapping and beating his wings while lying there dying on the cement. I pull over and go to help it (move it to the curb to protect it from oncoming motorists) I see an SUV run STRAIGHT over it....dead. It's eyes were bulging out of its skull and organs spewed over the street....pretty sad. |

Man that's sad. Especially when its a kitten.
The other day when I was driving there was this turtle on the side of the road trying to get up the curb. Since it was right after a blind corner and someone could hit it I pulled over and, in the rain, picked it up and put it about 20 feet onto the grass close to this lake. Hopefully it didn't try to venture back into the street.

That wasn't your fault solefald. That's just bad luck.
Plus, think of it this way. If you would have time to swerve to get out of the way, you could caused an accident in dense traffic and traveling 70-75 mph. Sorry you were shaken up, but it's not your fault. |

my friend was driving an 8 hour plus trip back to his campus. he got gas for the car and was tired so he let his friend drive it. his friend didnt see a deer and swerved. now my friend is in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. the worst part is that my friend is very responsible, respected, smart and athletic. he was the captain of the ftball team in high school. totally undeserved.

A kid who went to my high school hit and killed a lady who was walking in the middle of the highway at 3AM. She was extremely drunk and the guy didn't see her until it was too late.

Don't feel THAT bad...I was making a left turn and the light started turning yellow. I noticed a pigeon right where my tire was going and slowed down. The dumb @$$ bird was just standing there, looking around. I was creeping, trying to make my left. The bird slowly walks forward enough for me to get by.
The result, a siren behind me, and a ticket for obstructing traffic.

Thankfully I've missed everything with 4 legs that's jumped out in front of me. I've nailed a few low-flying birds though
During the most recent incident I had the sunroof open and it took days to clean all of the feathers from the inside of the car |
