Sedan,

What does CA traffic code say about pulling over to the left onto the grass median when being stopped by the police on a highway?

Example: I-95 is 8 lanes wide (4 lanes each direction) with a good sized shoulder on the right and almost no shoulder on the left. The median is usually wide, grass, and without a guardrail. When a car in the left lane gets pulled over by a cop, normally a Trooper, I sometimes see that car pull into the median with two tires on the grass and two on the narrow shoulder. It seems incredibly stupid to me.

I see that often around here and I presume that the Troopers hate it, but I don't know for sure.

It's funny how angry some people get when you beep your horn at them. Like you just spit at them or something. They're so insulted. That's what the horn is for.

Fragile egos are always overstocked. I find a quick double beep takes the edge off.

Yeah, a courtesy beep works well, but still, some get pissed.

True, I try to pick my shots. Definitely not honking at any lifted pickup truck in my state. But the random Jeep Cherokee that falls asleep at a stop light I'll give them a courtesy honk. No issues so far.

Most of our traffic laws dictate that the operator of the motor vehicle yield to the right. We don't generally have vehicles yielding in/near the center median, and if one attempted to do so we would use the PA system to direct them elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, in the event you get pulled over on the freeway, is it better to pull over even if there's minimal to no space on the side of the road and put officer at risk or is it safer / better to get off first off ramp?

No officer will fault you at all for pulling over at the next exit. I used to direct people to exit the freeway at the next available exit. It's the better option in terms of safety and it's the tactically sound option.

I was once "monitoring" a traffic school class. The nice CHP officer told us to follow his directions. He would choose when he thought it was safe to light me up. He could follow along after an infraction, unless really reckless, until he saw a safe location to pull over. Then he would hit the lights/siren.

What was that line that made Rodney Dangerfield tons of money?????

Man Breaks Into Police Station, Tries to Rob Commander's Office

Published February 24, 2022 • Updated on February 24, 2022 at 9:55 am

There's risky, there's insanely risky, and then there's breaking into the police station to rob the commanding officer's office.

Which is exactly what cops say happened last night in the Bronx.

According to a senior police official, about 10 p.m. Wednesday, personnel at the 52nd Precinct on Webster Avenue discovered Carlos Luciano inside their CO's office. He had apparently entered through a first-floor window, the senior official said, damaging it in the process.

On being discovered, the official said, Luciano took off running through the station. He was captured on the first floor and taken into custody, where he was charged with burglary.

According to the latest NYPD data, burglaries in the 52nd Precinct are up 27% this year.

Another master criminal brought down. 31 years of policing in a major city, I learned a few things and one of them was that the vast majority of criminals weren't that bright.

….and it happens this fast:

I'm quarterbacking but….

….those Deputies should've taken possession of the knife the moment he was detained. They also should've conducted a pat-down for [additional] weapons the moment they contacted him as well. That oversight led to a shooting that was justified, but definitely avoidable. I would've had him on the ground the moment he started resisting, but thankfully none of the Deputies were hurt.
