Scenic Drive -- Break In time!
I have added a new meet to the calendar, for any interested. I know the notice is short, but if you can make it -- cool!
Here's the details: Sunday drive on 1/21 from Ashburn, to Aldie, then Bluemont, and back through Leesburg. Lots of one-lane roads and twisty landscapes. I'm going to try to break-in my e92 coupe, so all are welcome. Drive time will be about 90 minutes, weather for Sunday is looking like a bit overcast with temps around 45-50 degrees and very little chance of precip. I plan to be at the Starbucks in Ashburn Farms (intersection of Ashburn Farm Rd and Claiborne Pkwy) at 11am. Here's the address: Ashburn Farm Starbucks 43330 Junction Plaza Ste 110 Ashburn, Virginia 20147 See you then.

Sounds great! I'd love to join you, but I doubt I can make it at that time unless I go to church early and then ditch the family for a while (unlikely on both counts). I'll PM you before then if I'm coming. Enjoy!

Scott, check with David (shimshimhada), he's always up for a drive. Also check with el kapitan ase2dais. Tell him his M3 cab needs to stretch its legs

You guys have a great time. I'll be in NC but when I get my E93 I will definitely be ready for a meet.

I'll try and make it. Depends on how I feel after my Sunday morning run.

I was hoping to make it today, but as I suspected, my schedule would not allow it. I was able to take my "Sunday drive" myself around 12:30-1:00PM and the snow was just starting to come down around here. How was it in Ashburn?

Its coming down at a decent rate here. Roads are already starting to become less than ideal. This is part of the reason Im somewhat glad my E92 is not here yet...

Not sure if the roads are really that bad (packed snow, freezing temperatures) or my POS Bridgestone EL42 RFTs weren't warmed up ideally yet....but there were lots of slipping and sliding from my rear end (DSC and DTC modes attempted). It was quite fun but I imagine it can get quite tiring when you're trying to get home from a long day at the office. I didn't stay out too much, the wifey got a little annoyed/worried with the mild sideways antics How are your cars doing? I know BK is finally getting his money's worth from his winter tire set up

I am looking forward to the drive to work tomorrow morning to try them out. Well - sort of, anyway. I do worry about others sliding into me. Nearly every other RWD sport sedan and sports car I see around here is still wearing summer performance tires. Driving this morning (pre-snow), I was next to an AMG Mercedes at a stoplight and a Porsche 911 was sitting behind it. Nice looking cars, but both had summer tires on. Ever since I changed my tires out, I always look around at stoplights to see if anyone else has changed his tires yet. I'd say at least 75-80% of the sports cars and sports sedans I see have had summer tires on them. The remaining 20-25% have all seasons. I'm like the only guy in DC with winter tires on. Oh well. I've been happy with them.

I'm happy to say my Conti winter tires were up to the task today. No issues with control ... and I "tested" out the tires a few times -- fairly predictable, which is what I was hoping for |

TMan and I set out for a nice drive, but about 20 mins in, the snow was really starting to come down and the roads were getting a little edgy. Needless to say, I thought it wise to head home. No way I am taking a chance w/ a 2-day old car. It was very nice to meet an e90post'er for the 1st time. We'll do it again sometime soon when the weather gets better, but it looks like the new ride goes in the garage for at least next week. My SUV was getting jealous anyway...

After some shopping, I got to sit on Rte 28 between Dulles and Ashburn for about an hour...saw 8 accidents and at least one was pretty serious...everybody be SAFE!! You cannot enjoy your Bimmer if it's in the shop or you're laid up in the hospital.

It was good while it lasted. Man, can that 335i take off or what and I know Scottz71 was "taking it easy". His car is very sweet indeed.
The weather did turn very nasty very early. I counted 11, yes 11, road incidents when I had to pop out in the early afternoon. It's like people don't know how to drive in this weather. Oh wait, they're not from Canada like me.

My apartment overlooks 395 around exits 4,5 (King St, Seminary Rd) Saw a bunch of people going sideways, although eveyone behind them saw that and slowed down, but either way, i guess my friends were right in saying that people in Dc freak out when there is snow on the ground...

I miss my old view though, I saw all sorts of crazy things on 395 from the comfort of my home. There was a crazy incident last year when a bus driver lost consciousness(heart problems) heading 395 S, leaned out the window and got decapitated by one of the pillars by Shirlington . The bus kept on rolling and the police had to jump in onto the bus Speed style to stop the bus, just within view. They blocked up 395 good for a few hours.

West as in twoards Target and all that jazz, i assume...?
I like the place, they are the Park Center Apartments, thos high rise buildings there, they offer garage parking, so its nice, my baby is nice and dry inside, i got a ride from my roommate to work. If you see a Sparkling Grpahite 335i (although debadged) zipping around, track me down and tell me to slow down.
