South Florida: How are you? Nikki?

Haven't seen any posts for a couple of days from our south Florida members - understandably. I hope everyone is okay, and that you didn't suffer much (if any) damage. Let us know how you're doing when priorities once again allow you to spend leisure time here.

Led, my folks live about 2 miles from Nikki and still have no power and may not for weeks. Odds are Nikki doesn't have power either. 7 million people in S. Florida with no juice.

Thanks Meatnog. I know they got whacked pretty hard. Hope your family is okay otherwise (like being without power isn't bad enough).

Yeah, not having power is pretty bad. We lost power for about 14 hours during an ice storm last year and our heating pipes nearly froze. That could have been a pretty ugly situation. Luckily for us it wasn't too bad and the power did come back on.

But now in Florida, I guess it's probably going to be pretty bad until they get everything cleaned up. They're saying nearly $10 billion of damage, just from this storm!

What's with all these hurricanes???

Hope all of our South Florida members and their Bimmers are doing fine. I know that had to be a rough storm. Best wishes.

Looks like I'm on my way back to Freeport, Bahamas tomorrow. Have to say goodbye to my 330 once again.

Ft Lauderdale got hit hard. We are lucky and just got power back today. Many many others not so fortunate. Most of the buildings seem to have made it though pretty well. The ultility infrasturucture is devasted and many road are not passable due to downed trees. What a mess. At least the car made it through unscathed.

Well, did you honestly think we could keep polluting the world without drastically affecting the environment? Yeah, it's sad to hear about the storm victims, but as humans, we brought it on ourselves. Can't blame anything else.

I blame my parents. I haven't been around long enough to cause any serious pollution (and i've only been driving for 3 years) and it's their fault i'm in the world now!

It's sad but true...lucky for me - I am where it is said to be the safest - the southern most tip of africa!
Who wants to come live with me - you can look at my E90 (but no touching)...I'm charging $10 000 a month negotiable...

Gotta say that those of us who do live in safe areas of the world are most fortunate. Not bad where I live - if you dont mind the odd kangaroo, koala, emu & platypus running amok in the streets!!

I just have to be careful my e90 doesn't bump into one.

Hope that all affected people are OK. Sorry they are having such a terrible time during this year's hurricane season. As you will see by this thread, we are thinking of you all.

My good friend lives in Ft lauderdale, i called her yesterday and she stuck her phone outside and i couldnt believe how windy it was. She said her roof was damaged but nothing major. Her neighbor's tree fell on the house.. but he was ok. Geez.. here in san diego we bitch and cry if it sprinkles.

As a point, I did a whole long study about the tests conducted to confirm global warming as a result of the release of greenhouse gases and as it turns out, the method they used was total BS. They used a logarithmic function to draw a correlation, which, for anyone that knows statistics, you could prove that a BMW is a Ford essentially with little statistical variation. It's not so much geenhouse emissions, it's more so changing climate. As time passes the earth just goes through swings, like a pendulum. I believe that greenhouse gases will eventually become a problem if not checked, but I think that to date the hype about gas emissions is all propoganda.

Thinking that hurricanes, or any significant weather event has anything to do with humans is absurd. These things are cyclical. Shit happens. Storms come.
