Is there a demand for drone photography/videography?
I'm considering buying a drone.
Need to justify it though. Just wondering if there's a demand for drone services out there... |

I've been considering getting a nice multirotor for aerial photography.
Unfortunately, I believe in the US it has been deemed illegal to use drones for any kind of profit or business. Recreational use only. I could be wrong though. Look it up in the interwebnets. |

Trust me, I would have already put ads out, but it is illegal to use for profit or business. Some photography place in Minnesota got grounded after they tried using their photos from the drone.
Edit: Could have been Missouri, I don't really remember. |

Here is something else to consider, In my neighborhood someone had a drone, and to my knowledge I believe it had a camera on it since the person was nowhere in sight and it was flying between people homes. I have not look into the law but I suspect flying over or around someone property could be considered trespassing or invasion of privacy.
You could find yourself in trouble if you flay over someone house. Also they are pretty quite and someone could easily fly up to someone's windows and look in. To the ops questions. I have seen videographers using these kind of things at private events and I would have to assume they were getting paid for this pictures and videos they were taking. Again it is a private even usually on private property. |

A lot of the legal things are up in the air still. Basically the FAA is trying to control everything and they have no legal foot to stand on yet.
There is a demand out there but you have to be some what discrete. It's a pretty easy market break into with these cheap drones. Anyone can buy a cheap phantom with a go pro. It takes a bit more understanding on how they work and how to fix things to really know what you're doing. There is a lot of rules that should be followed that most people don't even know, flying really high, near airports, crowded areas etc. The blades on even a cheap phantom will fuck you up! I still see idiots flying these really low around their kids There's a lot of them flying away just because the noobs don't understand how it works and are using crap controllers etc. As far as mine, I do what I want but I'm bit stupid and flying it near an airport. As far as privacy, even flying up to a window you really can't see shit with most of the cameras on these things (go pro). A long pole with a camera on it is a much cheaper and easier method to peep. I have a multirotor thread on here where you can see more details on some rigs. http://www./forums/showthread.php?t=844392 |

Seems that here in FL, golf courses are jumping on board with having areal videos of the course.

Mainly real estate photos and over view videos for larger properties. Here is the first one I did for a relative. Cheesy music ya, and I made a few mistakes in it but it was nothing formal, Just something I put together quick while we were on vacation. Normally i would have cleaned up some things , moved cars etc. did I mention it was incredibly windy! I've learned a lot more since then. Still makes you pucker when you are over water. There's a lot more to it than most think about, weight vs flight time, balance, gimbal settings, radio frequencies....blah blah blah |

I think drones are fascinating and there is huge potential in them, but yeah the privacy issue is kinda scary.

That and the skinny little coked out guy wearing nothing but socks and a cheap gold watch. Those were the golden ages of porn.

I would love to buzz over a few neighbors' houses and get the video evidence of them repairing cars then dumping on street, painting cars in the wind, and burning trash. And each of those would be a different neighbor. . .
