My youngest brother took this at the Virginia boatyard where he works. I think it's a great picture subject-wise (I stole it off his FB page, so it's been through the ringer already). I was thinking it would fit our current contest to a tee. Not bad for a noob with a Panny P&S, especially considering the conditions.

I guess it's gone from bad to worse there. The dock they're walking on was already 3ft under at that point. He has some shots from later in the evening where the boats themselves are going under. Nastiness. The tide is just coming up so high that the boats are getting swamped.

Yeah, he has some vids that show the wind and rain aren't as bad as the storm surge which is swamping the boats. When the boat floats up enough to reach the end of the mooring rope, it starts going under. I think if I had a boat I cared about, I would have had it out of the water.

So as I stated earlier, I have been editing some of my older shots. Would love any and all C&C on these shots...

The first is crazy, with a strange color cast, the garage door opener is reflected in the middle of the windshield and the clutter in the garage fights with the car for your attention.

The second is much better with a more natural color cast. The angle looks intentional, if a little contrived, but I guess all angle shots look contrived to me. It's in vogue these days, so I'll give full credit here. I'd try to get a cleaner background.

I appreciate the feedback, unfortunately there is not much I can do about the background with these shots as I do not have my m3 any longer. I too thought that the other pieces in the garage were fighting for attention, but I hadnt even noticed the reflection of the garage opener.

Well, you can't go back in time, can you?

Clearly, you're not paying enough attention to BG if you didn't notice that big honking reflection in the windshield. Focus on cleaning up your BGs in future shooting. It's a common issue. We lovingly look at our whip in the viewfinder and totally miss someone mooning you off on the edge. Yeah, an exaggeration, but it points out the need to see the complete image as your composing. Often, by changing your angle of view, or using bokeh, you can take something unwanted out of the BG.

Thanks, Trevor! Your shot looks great, too. Love the b&w processing and angle of the shot.
