Used F30 advice?
Has anyone here bought a used 2012 or 2013?
I sold my 1 series back to BMW last year when I purchased a house and bought a fusion (oh what a mistake that was!). Ford has had my car for 8 weeks out of the 10 months Ive owned it for the same problem each time. Sick of having a POS car that breaks all the time and want to go back to something fun. Once I get it back Im debating on trading it in for a 3 series sedan. I love the look of the new ones. Although I'd prefer a coupe, price and the convenience of a sedan makes more sense at this time. The other thing I was considering was selling the fusion private and leasing since I can write off some of the payments as Im self employed. About 50/50 driving for work and personal use. But I think I'd rather a CPO with the 6yr warranty and have ownership over something. My 1 series is back up for sale here in St Catharines at Performance Auto. I asked them about purchasing again and they refused to haggle and told me I could have it back if I paid $4k over what I sold it back to them for. Not impressed with their service. Has anyone here bought a CPO 2012 or 13? Is there anything I should be looking out for? And do the dealers haggle much on the price? |

The only thing that I am dealing with right now is rust accumulating on the seat frames. I am yet to visit my dealership to have this checked.
I don't know if the issue is on all F30s, but when you find one that you like, take a picture under the seat (facing up, towards the seat). If there is rust (hard to miss it if it is there) ask the dealership to change the seats for you. The CA will be stunned to see you do that. But in general, having the warranty and buying the extended one should be enough to cover the car for a long time. |

I purcahsed a 328i F30 from Bay Auto Zone in Toronto....
I live in Ottawa, found the car online, called them, negotiated a price I was happy with. I asked the dealer if they would take it to a BMW dealership for me so they can check the car out, do all the testing and make sure its good, they had no problem with that.... So I called maranellobmw.com, they were willing to do all the pre delivery inspection for me, it cost me 150$ but at least i had piece of mind. BMW called me, gave me results of the car, everything came back perfect. took the train to Toronto, paid for the car and drove back with it. |

I am new to this but I am also thinking of getting a used 2012 or 2013 3-series. Is there a big difference between buying from used car dealers or straight from BMW dealers? There is a premium for CPOs. Wondering if it's worth to pay the premium.

Found a dealer demo 328i with the options I want. almost 20,000 km on it though and they are still asking $40,000.
Does that seem fair or is that high? Im also nervous of that many kms on a demo. The car may have been beaten to hell for all I know |

What about the steering vibration issue others are having? I heard you have to buy 11/2012 and later production so this issue is resolved. Given that this issue didn't happen with all vehicles, I'd make sure to test drive the car before buying it.

I recently sold my E90 330i and bought a 2012 328i sport line from Humberview Motorsport in Toronto. Fully loaded with premium pkg, executive pkg, head up display, tech pkg, lane departure, blind spot assist, surround view camera. 11000 km and 3 yrs left on warranty. I paid $40500. Saved about 15K over new. Car is being shipped to Winnipeg as I write this. Can't wait for my new toy to arrive.

Did you check for rust under your seats?
And how did you manage to get the surround view camera? I really wanted that but this wasn't an option for MY13. |

I will check for the rust under the seats when I get the car next week. I purchased the car at a non BMW dealership. I think you generally pay less when you buy this way. BMW dealers seem to charge a bit of a premium on their demos/used inventory. It's my second BMW that I've bought at an independent dealer. I searched all over the country for over a month before I found this car. Yes it's a Canadian car, and one of the few fully loaded 2012 328 I could locate after a lengthy search. I could have gone the US route but I didn't want to go that way.
