I wonder what the tyre strategy will be tomorrow.
Anyone dare to make a prediction?
Will VER and LEC start on reds to try and get the lead after the 1st corner?
Or do they start on yellows to insure they can get away with 1 pitstop?

To me it seemed that Max had more problems getting the car sorted on reds than yellows, so my prediction is that they both start on yellows.
But that's just as much a guess as a prediction

I don't buy that, sainz has 1 season to adapt which is more than enough for any elite driver and did very very well last season. Then 2022 is a reset button with the new regs pretty much putting everyone on equal footing so there's no excuse for sainz, Charles is just that much better.

Sainz had big issues in the Ferrari box . They couldn't start his PU on time , because the starter was broken ...
Sainz had to do everything in a hurry to make it on time , and had to run on cold tyres !

he indeed was. He had all the bad luck in the world while being pretty fast all weekend.
Let's see what he can do tomorrow. But a podium is unlikely I think. It's a difficult track to overtake.

ALO will probably be eager to improve his position too, so there are 2 mad spaniards in the top10

The danger is NOR and HAM starting on reds.

P9 (with ALO next to him on P10) inevitably compromises his race tomorrow on this type of track. Likely, Ferrari will put him on a different tyre and pitstop strategy than LEC. His start will be crucial. Will be interesting to witness how long it takes before SAI starts breathing in the necks of HAM (P5) and RUS (P6) as the race moves on (slow W13: HAM and RUS qualified virtually 1 second slower than LEC). We may expect yellow or even red flags and safety car. So chances for SAI to end up on the podium aren't lost.

VER struggles with the balance of the car and expressed not feeling confident about it, so I expect LEC to dominate this race and VER to take too many risks to chase him (risk of VER ending up in the walls). LEC is on a roll. Only a pilot error (pushing the car beyond the limit in a turn), a pitstop strategy gone wrong or a safety car bringing the whole pack together again, can stop him from winning this race.

The porpoising effect affects all cars on this bouncy circuit.

Check on footage how the heads/helmets violently get shaken. Drivers must hate that 8-seconds bouncing: see 00:45-00:55. 58 laps like that. Easy for us to watch the race from our 100% stable armchair while those F1 guys struggle for balance.

Sign o' the F1 times: HAM got P5. That's the first time he didn't make it to top 3 in Australia since 2010 (McLaren). HAM got pole position 7 consecutive times (hybrid era). That successful streak was broken today by LEC.
