It's awful but it helps that we have Max v Charles and that I'm a fan of both since they got into F1. I'll still support Max over Charles but it really makes the races more enjoyable when I'm not too upset with the result regardless of who wins. Reminds me a little of Mikka vs Schumacher. They were both such savages.

Ferrari being competitive is a necessity for F1, otherwise it feels really weird.

Red Bull v Ferrari v Merc

Ferrari

PU: impressive power unit, likely best in class at the moment. They ran detuned in Bahrain but in the final 10 laps in Saudi LeClerc switched the PU into the top two power deployment modes to keep up with Max.

Interestingly, Sainz experienced clipping during the race.

AERO:Aero improvement will bring massive top speed bump, likely to occur by Imola. Huge upside here.

Red Bull

PU: On par or slightly behind Ferrari. Battery deployment seems off at the moment for reliability and performance. Max had clipping during the race. Ferrari is well ahead in low and mid speed acceleration. They have a few months to improve here before the window closes.

AERO: Aero is top class at the moment and will continue to improve for mid and low speed.

BRAKES: Cooling remains a problem with high temps, Max suffered with this issue during the race.

Merc

PU: running in detuned mode until aero is sorted, Russell showed decent pace, see graph for a Max v Rus comparison. First sector Max had DRS. Merc has a decent PU that has yet to be run full beans due to handling issues.

AERO: Major work required here, suspension geometry must be improved.

Side by side comparison of Charles and Lewis laps from Q3 quali in Bahrain showed the Ferrari using 300 rpm less on main straight. They were definitely not using their PU to full potential.

This was their fast laps in Q3, so they definitely are not in a fuel save mode. During race, who knows?

Good data but Ferrari couldn't have changed power modes during the last 10 laps because engine modes are fixed at the start of qualifying.

Fair point on the ICE power mode (timing, spark), I was referencing battery power deployment(full battery drain), torque management and energy recovery. I’ll update my post to clarify.

That 47 Haas of MS will have everything replaced except PU,tub and NSF suspension. Everything else is damaged inc rear wing which appeared ok. Will probably cost anything up to $1million.

At Imola the RB18 will lose some weight . Actually minus +/- 10 KG ! (wont be cheap)
This will make the car in low-speed corners faster ...
Better handling and improve the brake power as well .

A. Newey in progress....

Let it come !

10 kg is a very good weight loss.

But I'm pretty sure mechanical and material engineers are responsible for that, Newey is about aero.

The RB18 is currently too heavy ! Actually , the heaviest .
I heard about a lighter aero package as well...

Newey said : - 10KG = - 0.3 sec laptime is within the possibilities .
