New stop sale could affect lots of impending deliveries

Issue with the backup camera has cropped up and a number of G42s incoming have been held up, possibly until November. Issue is affecting a wide range of models, not just the G42.

SITUATION

BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective September 23, 2022) on certain Model Year 2022 - 2023 BMW vehicles that were produced between August 24, 2021 and September 24, 2022.

This delivery stop was originally called “eDrive Zones” but we have changed the title to" Rearview Camera". The issue involves the rearview camera which may not display on the CID when going into reverse.

Software is expected to be available in November but timing is subject to change. Until the manufacturing plants are updated, VINs will be added on a daily basis.

Do not deliver to a customer, a New, Certified Pre-Owned or Used vehicle subject to a Delivery Stop, until the vehicle is repaired. Do not use or sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a Delivery Stop.

I have a 2023 X1 currently at the port, and Genius says it's under three stop delivery orders: the program control unit and an issue with the headlights, both of which require software updates, and a spark plug issue. Hopefully these will be corrected either before it leaves the port in Bremerhaven or when it arrives in New Jersey.

The issue with the headlights is not a programming issue. The manufacturer has a QC issue and about 4,000 headlight units are being pulled back, not to mention the number of vehicles already on the ground.
