Get out of here. Like seriously. Please leave with that BS. I had to wait a full year for my i4 M50 because of the demand. It's extremely difficult to buy an EV at the moment because they are in such high demand. Saying the demand isn't there is not only factually incorrect, it borders on being dishonest.

Back in the day folks were equally displeased with a machine taking over their horse and buggy mode of transport

High demand with almost historically low manufacturing capacity. Let's be reasonable, please.

We are a decade+ away from a MkV Supra size EV, sub 3500lbs, rwd, 350hp(with decent range).

BMW track rats will be waiting awhile for BMW to produce something for track days. Solid state batteries will be the breakthrough. Porsche has said Cayman will be all electric by 2025, lets see what they can come up with. I have my doubts, there is only so much Porsche can do with current state of battery tech.
yup we saw the Taycan Ring lap. 100% limited by physics.

I assume they are going to test that test-mule in public roads and in places like the Nurburgring real soon now after they exhausted computer-based simulations and small-scale internal tests. Obviously a G26-derived, M4 front car without exhaust pots would draw a lot of question marks from everybody and they wanted to get in front of the news cycle.

Same as with the G81 M3 Touring - as it is a new M body style, they announced it just before public testing began because if they'd showed up at the ring with the camouflaged prototype, everybody would know what's up anyway.

Low volume? In the US, Tesla has been outselling BMW, Lexus and MB from a pure volume standpoint. https://www.torquenews.com/15475/tes...-mercedes-benz

Also, Tesla has sold/made 3M cars total, not 1.9M.

The I20/G26 will be in production until Jun '28, so six more years seems like plenty of time for a ~3year run of a BEV M.

I'm pretty sure that's not a zero emission maneuver.
Par for the course for EVs, given their manufacture brings with it twice the carbon footprint than that of a typical ICE.
.
This is just plain wrong, reckless and irresponsible…what is your source for that BS?

https://climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/how-...ring-batteries

MIT is siting the EPA.
The Guardian ran an article a couple of months ago on the pros and cons of keeping an existing ICE vs buying a new EV, where comparative carbon footprints and impacts are concerned, and they mentioned the respective data for production. I'm all for EVs as an ecological solution, don't get me wrong. But the monodirectional advocacy of them at a time when we need multiple solutions across different national contexts and socioeconomic constituencies is open to debate. Unless one thinks that they really are the only solution, which is fine.

Maybe I'm getting old but when you've owned so many cars over your lifetime the burgles the pops the bangs all the noise that petrol engines make it's old and tired. It's actually very annoying when you hear crappy cars with horrible cheap exhaust driving around tidying up your neighborhood. Personally I can't wait for full electropication something new and exciting. No more having to go to the gas station, I am absolutely can't wait and I will be definitely the first people in line to get one.

I will continue enjoying my M4 why Bmw is working on the future of BMW M.

Absolutely great work BMW M 👍🏼👍🏼
So the bangs pops and burbles sound good on the F cars? 🤣🤣Mine sounded horrendous until I killed burbles and got the AA EQ mid

Tank turn capability at the 0:56 mark better be a standard equipment. Canadian Luxury Tax going to hit hard on this EV. :\

It’s all about money and government corruption. These lithium batteries are doing major harm to the worlds environment. It was OK to use it for some mobile phones but these car batteries need a massive amount of lithium. This technology sucks for cars IMO.

Haha! I don't mind them. I noticed on my car as I push it harder and harder and exhaust it's very hot it sounds better.

"For example, in Germany - where about 40% of the energy mix is produced by coal and 30% by renewables - a mid-sized electric car must be driven for 125,000 km, on average, to break even with a diesel car, and 60,000 km compared to a petrol car. It takes nine years for an electric car to be greener than a diesel car, assuming an annual average mileage of 13,500 km (as was the case in Germany in 2002, compared to 12,700 km in England in 2013). Most consumers will have bought a new car by then. The case is similar in the US, but less pronounced in nuclear-powered France."
