How much is a front brake change at the dealership?
Got about 500 miles left on the pads. I'm out of warranty too. Can someone tell me how much it is at the dealer or link me to some pads online somewhere.
Much appreciated. |

I don't have any indy suggestions for you but avoid the stealership at all costs.

For an M235 $1057 at dealership for front brakes.
A bit over $300 for labor. My dealership does great work. Worth it to me to have them do it. Few months back I did rear pads myself, so front brakes are a job I could have done...it’s so convenient to have a dealership do the job. The pins were knocked back in w/o marring the caliper paint. The tech did the job like he was working on his own car. |

or you could have paid half that and had a reputable indy shop do it, all while helping a small business owner.

Holy balls. A brake change takes me roughly 125 minutes, and I'm not speed demon.
$300 for 15 minutes of work. But I guess you get that dealership wash for free, so there's that.

There are plenty of videos showing pad, rotor & sensor changes for the F30 - if you've done it on other BMWs you can do this. Parts are available from your local dealer, FCP Euro (lifetime replacement), AutohausAZ, Zeckhausen Racing, ECSTuning, Turner Motorsports, etc.

These are some of the easiest brakes to work on. Buy new pads and rotors from getbmwparts or rockauto then youtube it. $200ish?

Subaru just quoted me $500 for the front brakes (pads and rotors) on my 2009 Subaru Impreza beater.
You'd have to think BMW is getting double that and maybe somewhere in the middle for an Indy. |

Do it yourself. Much cheaper to get the right tools, jack/stand and learn how to repair your own car or have a member help out for a fraction

Get the rotors at Rockauto, pads too. I did my fronts in the spring with Raybestos Element 3, they're inexpensive, work as good as OEM and are very rust resistant.

FCP euro. Lifetime warranty
Zimmerman rotors and jurid/textar/pagid/ate pads for stock pads or akebono for less dust. All you need to do is get torx/hex/e-torx bits, hammer, brake lube, c-clamp and brake parts cleaner with rags.

Did my fronts on my ‘15 Subaru for $140 with parts from rockauto.
OP. Dealer wanted $700 to do my rears. Rotors and pads. I said no and did it myself. |

$110 for Meyle rotors $100 for BMW pads $20 for BMW wear sensor. Took about 2 hours total and honestly, was easier than my previous 13' Outback and wife's 14' XV Crosstrek. Just remember to have either a can of PB Blaster or a BFH if you live in the NE area.

Took me less than 30 mins to put new pads on the front of my 2015 328. BMW's are very easy cars to work on. Front and rear, with new rotors, would prob. take about 1.5 hours maybe. Quicker if you have access to a 4-post.

When they're thinner than the minimum thickness. Depends on driving style & brand of rotors & pads.
