I was just watching the TV show "How the States Got Their Shapes". On the show, they surveyed the Tennessee-Georgia border with GPS and found that the state line is incorrectly marked from early day surveying.
Due to this, a lady's house was found to sit in both states. Could she get drivers licenses for each? |

DL will go by mailing address.
Property tax would be for both states ... had family years ago that had farmland on the MN IA border and that's how it worked for them. |

I'm more interested in voter registration than a drivers license in this situation.....

When I was young, my parents came close to purchasing a home that was in one county but the backyard of the property was in another. If I remember correctly, everything went off the mailing address. My parents thought they found a loophole in that they would pay the lower property taxes of the mailing address but I could go to the school of our backyard. Not the case

Well, technically, only half her house is in each state, and as far as I know complete houses are worth good money, but half a house would be considered scrap - so her assessed value for each half of a house should be low.

I would say technically you can get 2 licenses. When I moved to Florida I got one right away but did not turn in my NJ license. I had my NJ license in case I got pulled over in Florida so the points wouldnt matter. Once it expired though, I could not renew it.
Many state DMV's are not linked as efficiently as they should/could be |

Clearly mailing address is definitive. If the USPS, an agency (sort of) of the United States Government, recognizes the address... well, just watch The Miracle on 34th Street.

It goes by your chosen state of residency. You have to pick one. This is where you register to vote and pay local and state income tax. When I had two residences in Ohio and Michigan. I chose Ohio for lower insurance cost and tax break when trading in vehicle(s). You only pay sales tax on the difference. I often trade a vehicle about the same value as the new one so the net sales tax would be zero.
