did you get a lot of noise on the original from the long exposure? I've heard that you can pretty much only do about 5min max on a lot of the cameras before the sensor gets too hot and starts making a lot of noise.

I'm surprised you didn't get any other lightning strikes in that time!

It's a sweet shot, hope to see more like it

Actually I didn't do any noise reduction on that shot during PP. There were a few "hot-spots" on the sensor that are outside the area of the 100% crop...4 hot-spots that I could see in the original un-cropped photo.

BTW there were other lightning strikes...all in the overblown area of the cloud...that is why it is overblown

They overlapped each other in that area creating the visual you see.......

what are you using for lighting? I like the shot. But that probably isn't a surprise, i usally like your shots rodi.

my vagabond bit the dust. i think it's time to chuck it into the pond. it just wouldn't turn on. so i used an umbrella as a makeshift reflector.

I hear they stopped making it because of that. the mini's still hold up though.
