It's funny, I watched a Stephen King film called Christine about a demon possessed car that when it was wrecked it rebuilt itself. At times Mick would have wished that would have been the case when it went wrong with the Haas.

^ All b/c dad drove for Merc after the Ferrari hey days and three years out, but with a queer set up suited for another generation his only use was to tell them the Ferrari secrets and after the big crash going into the back of Vergne's car he was replaced by Hamilton.

Wolff is hoping the name will offset the nosedive in performance from Merc and if Mick's adaptable will be another possible should Hamilton leave.

I heard that Mercedes will use him in the 2023 W14 winter crash tests .

George Russell proved throughout the 2022 season that the learning curve to adapt to a different F1 car, a different team mate (a living F1 legend) and a different team & work environment, can be relatively brief / steep.

But Russell is a super talent.

Time will tell whether Schumacher is equally a quick and skilled learner.

A reserve driver doesn't need to be as skilled as the #1 and #2 drivers. But his feedback is usually deemed relevant. Schumacher will need to earn his stripes.
