Joe did a great interview with ALPINA's CEO Andreas Bovensiepen... all while driving. This video is long, but gives a good insight into Alpina and what drives them to produce such great cars.

I watched this in entirety last night. Definitely worth watching but it's probably too long in length.

He was supposed to only have 15 minutes to interview him but obviously he got way more than that.

Wait for the story about Niki Lauda that is past the 30:00 minute mark.

In 2000 I was part of the BMWCCA USA group that went to Germany and attended the three day HPDE event at the Nürburgring. Each run group had about a dozen or so cars, and two instructors. One of our group instructors was Andy Bovensiepen, and he was driving an Alpina Z8. I was fortunate enough to get a lap of the Nürburgring in that Z8, with Mr. Bovensiepen at the wheel. What an experience that was!

Andy Bovensiepen used to race in the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup series back in the mid-80s. I have a framed poster featuring his young face in my garage, since he placed in the overall Top 3.
