I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I don't really care if BMW makes a supercar or not -- I've avoided that entire discourse because, frankly, I don't intend to ever buy a supercar in my lifetime unless I win the lotto. Make one or not, it doesn't affect my day-to-day life

Oh, I get it. Product planning changes all the time. Especially when your development cycle is on the order of 60 months from concept to market. You'll hear no complaints about back and forth from me.

which happened with the X5 and X6.
But with M Performance Diesels splitting the portfolio and catering the mid and upper segment models. do not be surprised if something comes along for the lower end of the portfolio.
I never understood the desire to make an X3M. There is no market for it, and the Q5S (or whatever it'll be called) and the Macan seem more likely competitors to a potential X4M than an X3M.

I know the ship has sailed, but why didn't BMW consider forgoing a Z4M Coupe altogether and just focus on offering a Z4M roadster with the S65? Fitment's not an issue, as the P65 is used in the Z4 GT4. Or a more focused version of what ended up becoming the 35is.

Aha! So you do prefer naturally aspirated engines to FI! I'm quoting this for posterity

And why won't you reveal the chassis designation of the 4-series GC?

Hopefully we'll see a lightweight successor Z4MC. I'm somewhat glad they didn't come out with another watered-down 'M' on their current bloated platform

Speak about monsters in Europe ,,, Have you seen this ... here is one you can get for 100,000 Euro if you write a cheque otherwise they are asking 150,000 Euro for a modified Z4 748 HP ... faster then the Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, etc. on the Nurburgring.

Check it out --->Click

You know what I like?

The fact that his new M head can say, "No, at least not in this generation"

"No" says to me, "we (are able to/ want to) prioritize".

bmw has jumped the shark. the new 3 is HIDEOUS, the 5 looks good, the new 7 looks obnoxious and ginormous.

i would take a benz AMG over any car BMW makes except the m3.

c63amg < m3
e63amg > M5
S63amg > 760?
ml63amg > x5m
cl63/sl63 > m6

gone are the days of BMW being "better handling". go drive a new e63 amg and honestly tell me that it can't dance as well if not better than any bmw.
really?

c63amg > m3
e63amg < M5
S63amg < 760?
ml63amg < x5m

@Scott26

You say there will be a X4M and then later say you can't have one without the other comparing the X3/X4 with the X5/X6. I guess I am confused, if they are making a X4M like you say then that also implies there would be an X3M but the head of BMW M just said that will not happen.

I would have loved to have seen an F11 M5 Touring, although the U.S. would have never seen the light of day in respects to it. I love my 5 series touring, best BMW I've owned (6th BMW). Kinda makes me sad they won't build one.

They don't want to eat into the already limited sales numbers of the X5M/X6M. It is a niche low volume seller.

At a minimum the X3M would push twice as many units.

that's shocking!
The X3 xDrive35i is already multitudes faster and more agile than the top of the line, Q5 3.2. If Audi were to make an SQ5, it would likely match the numbers of the 35i. If you notice, the 335i competes with the S4 and the 550i competes with soon-to-be S6. BMW's top range, non-M models compete with Audi's S models, and BMW's M models compete with Audi's RS models.

Unfortunately I believe they are diluting the M brand by making so many M performance upgrades for all the F series. What was wrong with BMW performance parts for everyone that didn't buy an M in the first place? I just think that they should just start putting an M on everything to make everyone feel good!

Well this is all speculation
But the q5s wil, have between 330 if they use the engine from the A6
Or 408 if you check out the q5 concept they showed

I would have enjoyed a Z4M and M5 touring. I agree with no X3M... While you're at it, eliminate X5M and X6M.

There was speculation last year that there would be no M sedan version of the f30, and with the coupe likely being referred to as M4, that would have meant the end of the M3. I'm not sure what the point of this statement is, but could you have imagined the backlash.

No, not the only one. It makes absolutely zero sense.

They won't make a true M-car, like the last Z4M. But they will waste peoples time putting M-badges on everything under the sun.

Give the S65 a true send-off. Last of the great normally aspirated V8's.

E63 with the M157 has more tuning potential. Doesn't hurt the E63 is lighter, a couple magazines believe steering feel and handling is better in the E63.

I think you are underestimating the market for a X3M.

The X5M/X6M should end production. The X3M/X4M would move many more units.

If SCOTT26 is wrong on this, hopefully he's wrong about the nomenclature switch for the 3 series coupe being rebranded as a '4 series' with other rumors suggesting that the coupe shall remain a '3 series.' It's only a name, but possibly hearing 'BMW M4' just irks the passionate BMW loyalist in me. Thankfully, the accursed V6 is off the table as per the BMW board's will. In the end though, only time will tell.
