I don't understand? No one is affected nor is anyone waiting to see what Mercedes does - HAM seat is not available and there is no rush to sign any extension.

Until there is any consistent and significant drop off in performance, no one should wait or expect that seat to be available to anyone.

What? HAM current contract expires at the end of this upcoming season. There would be no rush to sign anything until the conclusion of the 2023 season.

And what personal issues? It’s a contract negotiation. Things don’t magically happen when you’re talking millions of dollars. Regardless, HAM isn’t going anywhere for the next 2-3 years so whatever does or doesn’t happen is irrelavent. HAM could go on a year-year contract and it wouldn’t change the fact he and RUS are going to be a pair at least until the new regulations kick in 2026.

Las Vegas oddsmakers feel the same way....in fact the early odds posted show that they feel there are only 4 drivers with a chance. 1 Red Bull, 2 Mercedes, and 1 Ferrari driver...sadly, the other 16 are just there for the show.
