Pool workout
So I have a pool and I dont use it at all. I want to work out and I thought it would be a good idea to use the pool.
If you have a pool and use it for exercise, what do you do? Im thinking of just doing laps over and over but im not sure how effective that would be for a workout. Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks.

I lap swim everyday it seems to give me a great workout. what i did to make it a little more difficult i bought some hand paddles and also a weighted belt. This give me max resistance. I also bought a waterproof ipod shuffle so i can listen to music while i swim bc its soooo boring after a while and hard to stay motivated.
Just switch it up when you swim, go online and get a couple set schedules and do them you will get a great workout.

While I don't, my 11 yo son does. They practice various techniques. Sometimes they will swim a particular stroke with only 1 arm in one direction, then the other on the way back. They do a lot of work with kickboards to work just their legs and practice those different kicks.
He lost about 15 lbs. and probably 2 inches since soccer ended in late September.. .so yeah, it's a good workout. |

What are you looking for out of your swimming workouts? Are you looking to do a triathlon or cross training for something else? Are you looking to burn off excess body fat? PM me and I can help you out. I have a few coaching books and I swam competitively in HS and college so I know what works and what doesn't.

A pool workout I used to do was this:
Swim 100m, jump out. Do 20 pushups. Swim another 100m, jump out. Do 25 situps. Rinse and repeat until you have done 1000m. Work up to do 2000m and eventually 3000m.
