Inspection I Valve Adjustment
I was under the impression that the E9X V8 did not need to have its valves adjusted like the E46 M3, but I got this from Mike Miller:
"ake sure the dealer performs a valve adjustment at the Inspection I service. Do not take no for an answer. Ask to see the car while the valve clearances are being checked. If that is not possible, tell them you want the old valve cover gasket. Look for tool marks on the valve cover nuts. Check for signs that the valve cover has been off, like that it was cleaned or has hand-prints on it." Anyone know if this is true?

Ooohh! Mike Miller! So who's Mike Miller?
Based on his knowledge level, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a CA. Mike Miller is wrong. |

Mike is the most respected BMW tech in the business. If you are a BMWCCA member, his Tech Talk section is the most popular part. He also answers his e-mail which is appreciated.
I suspect he just got confused, but I have written him to clarify.

Mike confirmed this morning that he was thinking E46, not E9x, so mystery solved.
