Dude, he made it worse for himself. Everybody has equal opportunity to succeed in life, some people like the shit route. He didn't comply. Plain and simple.

I was in the same position he was. Only difference is he was a lazy fuck and wanted life handed to him. Just like the bums at street corners asking for loose change. Get real man, this is the fucking real world. Grow the fuck up and act like and adult, or suffer the consequences.

Oh wait. None. All you fegs are here, just like me. SURPRISE SURPRISE.
When I was 15 I ran from the cops. I thought I got away because I was hiding in the woods for over an hour. I got caught down the street from the police station using a payphone trying to call for a ride. I was surrounded by cops but they did not slam me on the hood of their cruisers or manhandled me.

When they surrounded you with cops, did you continue to be non-compliant, or did you give up at that point?

I think this is the part we're talking about.

I don't agree with all you say but yes, he did make it worse for himself. I never argued that. I have seen plenty of folks not comply over the years and not one ever got strangled to death. There are plenty of rational steps in between that were skipped over a petty crime. Given that he was surrounded by six cops, that was a pussy move that was done to take him down before the situation even warranted such behavior.

To be clear I am only talking about the NY case not Ferguson.

The cop that crushed Garner's head into the ground while he was choking should be beaten. What a fking coward.

I had run in with police where I was also "compliant and scared shitless".

I got into an incident on the road once and one of my passengers gave the other car the finger. The other party then followed us for about a mile or so and then gave up and left.

About 10 minutes later we were pulled over by two cop cars at gun point. Turns out the other party called the police and reported that we had a gun. They surrounded the car (from a long distance) and started barking orders about how to slowly exit the vehicle. Having that many guns pointed at you is quite intimidating.

I also was scared shirtless and completely understood the grave position I was in. Every thing I did was slow and deliberate. I didn't move until I fully understood the order being yelled at me.

If I had made fast movements or reached into my pants spontaneously to pull out my ID, I might not be here today. But I am here today because I'm not a total fucking moron who challenges people, in a tense situation, who have the power to kill me if threatened. I complied with their orders and I was not beaten, abused or shot.

They eventually figured out the other party was just assholes and that we had nothing on us (the other party obviously wasn't afraid of us since they followed us while claiming we had a gun). They let us go and left.

Yes, there are, I agree with that. However, if a situation comes up where you need to act on a dime, sometimes we don't think logically. Brown did something illegal with has repercussions, the cop did something extreme. I don't think he should have a job anymore, but I don't think he was completely wrong either. I don't know the stress cops have to endure day to day, but in certain areas, I'm pretty sure you get edgy after running into crappy people that want to hurt you day in and day out.

Like I've said before, both cases, could have both gone differently, if people would just listen. That doesn't mean the officers were correct in either situation with their judgement, but there was one very simple step that would have saved both their lives. It's unfortunate, because there are certain people that comply and certain people that want to lie and run. Those with half a brain never have severe encounters with enforcement like this, they're actually upstanding citizens.

Most people, unless they are of the same type as the man (generous description IMO) above, would buy the pleads of innocence, virtue, and victimization. Not to mention the video taper convicted felon (http://nypost.com/2014/08/23/chokeho...or-being-fake/) - who to say this wasn't a failed attempt to profit from a lawsuit? Why would you plead innocence, yet make enough threatening movements with your arms at the level of the officers throats - just enough to goad them on, whilst knowing your accomplice is filming.

I say this because most people are good people, and they would project good intentions on to other people, because they (falsely) assume other people are like themselves.
Having had a weird encounter today with a I wouldn't say portly, but "offensively" fat gas station attendant, I have come to the formulation of a achetype of the overweight, sadistic bully(sociopath) who instead of using weight as a shield for childhood hurts, uses it as a weapon to intimidate and have their way with people.

Both in the convenience store robbery and the NYPD chokehood case, the perps were large 300lb+ men - one who physically bullied a store keeper, and one who, with a convenient camera rolling, thinks it would be a better living than selling untaxed cigarettes on the street corner.
I realize this may sound extremely offensive, but I don't think a lot of people are appreciating the truly vicious, nasty nature of these men - men who would stomp you into the ground for a good laugh.
Notice I have not mention race. I am not making a comment on race - the race protests are a different matter, and I may even be sympathetic to that cause.

From the bottom of my heart I say good riddance. Thank you NYPD and thank you officer Wilson, but probably not because you probably enjoyed it.

Here is an example as to why cops take down large suspects in a way that gives them total control over the suspect. Even a slight weight advantage, better grappling skills, etc... can turn the tables in an arrest.

Geeze, you're a complete asshole.
Good to know you think someone should lose their life over a victimless crime. I hope you get a bullet through the head for speeding.

Give him credit, he must think he's the guy in The Green Mile..
I stand by my opinion that he is totally acting for the cameras, saying all the right things to make you feel and believe he is the innocent party in this.
Give cops credit, it takes a minor asshole to point out a major one.

Not sure how anybody in their right mind can blame the cops in the Ferguson or the Garner case.

Both guys were braking the law and resisting arrest.

I dont care if you are Black, White, Asian, Old, Young, Male or Female - if u are resisting arrest or worse yet reaching for their gun (Feguson case), there is a chance you will die.

Garner case - the commanding officer AT THE SCENE was BLACK so how the hell is this racist??? The original move was a takedown not a choke. It did turn into a choke hold when Garner continued to resist arrest when he was on the ground.

To me, the EMT are more responsible for the death bec they were at the scene but not doing anything to help Garner.

Even Garner's wife doesn't think race was a factor:

So Garner's own wife calls him "very lazy" and a "career criminal" plus admits it wasn't a racist situation.

I'm sure Al Sharpton is not too happy about this......

Again it sucks that the guy died but it was not the fault of the cops.

Here is the part I don't understand about people whining and bitching about this stuff. From my vague understanding of the law these cases go to court, where evidence is presented (that we may not even know about yet), a jury of people just like you and me then spends days, weeks or even months going over this information and coming up with a verdict.

So why the hell do some people think they know better than those who have spent days, weeks or months going over ALL the evidence?

PS: Please correct me if I'm wrong on how our legal system works.
