Pole is for MAX with a 1:23.824 !
MAX said : With Checo at P2 , hopefully we can do what we want in the race ... In other words : "If the situation permits" MAX can do 'something to secure Checo's P2 in the WDC .

FIA Race Stewards investigated the incident and decided a 'no further action'. Rosberg P1. Hamilton P2 ("Ah that was very good of him [Rosberg]. Very good."):

Setting up for a runaway race tomorrow again if there are not flag interventions. Easy pole while giving PER a tow in order to get P2... well, well clear of the field. Merc definitely had a better 2nd half of the season but still have a long ways to go - Brazil was an anomaly. Could be a fun race to watch between LEC & PER - LEC I think has better pace but PER should have the tires.
Still a bit perplexed by last weekend with RBR. Everyone knows something weird going on there. Still looks strained in the interviews. Odds of RIC being 2nd seat in 23 increasing by the day (joking)(maybe). |

Very strong qualifying from Max. He was easily the fastest.
Looking good for tomorrow But my eyes are already focussed on next year. Can't wait what the teams do over the winter and how next years cars will look. Will all cars look like the RB18?

Merc 0.6+ secs off pace at modern tracks. Zandvoort and Interlagos are just different. 1) Ver - 1:23.824 . . . 5) Ham - 1:24.508 6) Russ - 1:24.511 |

Perfect scenario for VER to help PER. If the positions remain the same throughout the race, will be interesting to see if VER allows PER to overtake if there comes a point where LEC would pass PER.
On pace alone, PER would likely be bottlenecked by VER so there is likely going to be a point in the race where PER would need to be in P1 with clean air and no one in front and it would be up to VER to try and keep LEC in P3. This should be a very good race assuming no safety cars or botched strategies. And for P2 in the drivers of all things. |

The perfect scenario if Verstappen and Perez have a flawless start: staying together. Verstappen ensuring that Perez regularly can stay under 1 second to get him plenty of DRS tows on the straights. Not racing or outrunning each other.
By doing this they can fly all the way to the chequered flag if pitstops go smooth. Would be a fitting end to the 2022 season. But then again, this track is known for yellow flags...

The Ferrari's know very well that they must jump him in T1 . Think Checo will lose position in T1.. IMO . MAX wont get the chance to help Checo in the background to get his P2 in the WDC . Ferrari should look backwards to keep both Mercs behind them

That's not necessary because MAX already has the record .But actually he doesn't care about records .

Schumacher will still have the record by percentage. Winning 13 of 18 for roughly 72%. The best Max can do is 15 of 22 for roughly 68%. Sebs right in there at 13 of 19 for 68%. Assuming my data and math is correct. |
