Sport Suspension Settings or Not
I am going to finalise my order of my 320d this coming week sometime, but I am still not sure whether to take Sports suspension settings or not? It only cost around R2 800 ($460), I am getting the 17" 158 style wheels...
My 325ti had sports suspension and I found that the ride was a bit rought sometimes. What do you guys think? Should I get sports suspension or not? |

You're asking a biased audience. Most people here will say yes, get the sports suspension.
Personally, I couldn't tell you which way to go. It would depend on what your priorities are in the car's handling and comfort as well as the quality of the roads you will be driving on. The sport suspension communicates noticeably more bumps in the road into the cabin than the non-sport. But then if you've driven both (and you should before making this decision) then you would know that.

I didn't get sports suspension with mine. I was told that the ride would be a little more harder (not much) my dealer advised me to stick with the standard SE suspension, as this was the case in the test car I drove. I was comfortable with that.
I can't give an opinon on having sports suspension as I do not have it. |

broken1, do you drive pretty aggressively and are buying the E90 for its performance capabilities? If these things are important to you, I would suggest you get the sports suspension. Ride quality on 17" with SP shouldn't be too bad and people on here have said that the SP ride quality is great.
Another thing, any chance of you getting aftermarket suspension in the future? If there's a good chance, then skip on the SP since you'll just be wasting the money now. |

No chance of aftermarket suspension.
And I do drive quite aggressively, but then again...i don't corner at massive speeds, and how "aggressively" am I going to be driving in my 320d. I think the ride comfort is more a priority for me at this stage, because my E46sports suspension is a little too rought (something I definately notice when I take another car in the household) Still on the fence...Anyone else? Oh yea, and A3ndy - do you find the suspension in your car to be firm enough when cornering 'agressively' or do you find it too coushy? |

I find cornering to be fine, although I have not been cornering aggressively. I don't tend to on corners anyway. If you are concerned about ride quality, then standard suspension will suffice. I wanted a comfortable ride, not something that's too hard, that's why I stuck with standard. |

A few points to consider:
The best way to tell which is best for you is to test-drive both. If you are not quite sure, why not save the money and pick the less expensive option? Keep in mind that many of the people on this board are in the U.S. where the sport suspension isn't purchased separately but as part of the sport package. The package also includes sport seats and the desirable 162 wheels (on the 330 only) and it is not cost-effective here to purchase those wheels separately. |

Yeah to be honest I was on the fence as well on whether or not I wanted the sport suspension. But unfortunately since in the US the sport seats and 162 wheels are part of the sport package, and I definitely wanted those, I just took the sports package and told myself I'd learn to forget the cushy ride of the non-Sport E90 I had driven
Since you have the option of configuring any which way, just go drive them both like Athos said. Odds are good that you do not corner so aggressively that the standard suspension won't meet your needs. Its still a BMW without the sport suspension you know

I've only driven a car with sport suspension. When i asked my dealer that the car drove very smooth, he told me, ' it's because of the sport suspension'.
Even on my 19" and sport suspension the car drives very good. So go for that option Stijn |
