But it's true. If I go to the mall, I go out of my way to park over the river and through the hills. Not really but you get it - far, far away from the masses. I find the ideal end spot, park as close to the curb as I can, or slightly over the zebra stripes. When I come back to the car, it never fails. Some knuckle head will be parked right next to me and over MY line with no one else in sight. WTF!

I hate people.

I've had the same experience many times. I don't what the h3ll they're thinking. Perhaps they are lonely.

Which reminds me of a story my dad related to me long ago.

One of his best-friends-couple had just purchased a new Mercury Comet. They stopped by a super-market and she stayed in the car while hubby picked up a few items. Some knucklehead parked along side and proceeded to bang his door into the side of their new car. She rolled down her window and told the guy to more careful. He gave her some lip and said, "What's the big deal, your car will get dinged anyway."

Well, you didn't want to mess around with Mae. After the jerk went inside, Mae got out of her car and proceeded to key both sides of his car. Mae was about 65 at the time. As I mentioned don't mess with Mae (from Oklahoma).

Yeah, the worst places are airport parking lots. There's just no way around it. If and when possible, I try to park my car next to nice cars knowing the owner is probably just as concerned.

Oh and since we seem to be on this topic of cars getting dinged, I truly and sincerely hope that people that smash their shopping carts into other cars (probably because they're fat and lazy) also have a special reserved spot in the deep, cark caverns of hell.

Yes.

You have to find where the hitters park. In the old NOLA airport it was the 3rd level. Nearly every car on that level in the closer spots was very nice. I haven't flown out of the new facility yet.

Yes, this is a good idea and sometimes the only option.

One-way rental to/from Burbank FTMFW

IF I HAVE to go to LAX and take my personal vehicle, some of the upper-scale parking garages now have pretty tough dividers between the stalls.

Do you have to pay a premium for the "armoured" stalls?

It's a bit more than the normal airport parking, but all stalls have this armor, and all parking spots are covered (minimal jet droppings). Something along $2-3/day more maybe?

Plus, if you are so inclined, they provide oil changes, detailing, etc. while you are gone

Well worth it in my opinion although I'm not sure I'd want someone taking my car for a detail while I was out of the area. I'm sure they have insurance but that only comes into play if there is damage done to the vehicle, it means nothing if someone is joyriding and beating on it and manages to not hit anything on the way to and from the detail shop. I mean let's face it, it's your baby or it wouldn't be in that parking garage in the first place.

Yeah, remember this guy? No way in hell I'd let them detail my car let alone valet park it.

Microsoft has mastered using fonts and wordings in all of their product and support documentation that intentionally give the reader a headache, so that they have no idea what they read or what it means.....

Oh Ok. So they just drift your car down and then back up when they're finished detailing it, gotcha.
